Very beautiful catches and indeed big kingfish Nesim!

I just thought that the season of big kingfish was over here in Qatar, as we only saw smaller kingfish recently (we were 80km offshore last friday and the biggest kingfish spotted were some 10kg beasts).

Otherwise, those bigger ones come closer to shore in Qatar by april till mid june and that's when the feast starts for us here   , so how does the season of kingfish go in Oman or UAE?

best regards

its pritty much the same as qatar,
i believe that king fish are all year round, they just move between deeper and shallower waters depending on the season,
This one was taken in blue water, about a mile off Fahal Island/muscat, water deapth is between 100-120m deep,
there is a pinical that comes up to abut -20 m below the surface, and all the big fish swim around it. this one was shot at aboout 7-8 m off the pinical
we landed 2 kings yesterday, the second one was approx 20Kg,
Dubai on the other hand is much like Qatar, due to the lack of deeper water,

holy crap!!!!!!! fantastic one guys.. nadim said he was going to muscat this weekend, i didn't realise that you guys were out on such a mission!
Where is Fahal? Its as big as you!!

great!!! tell us more man about the fight... was it shot in the head?

cheerz and Ramadan Kareem indeed :)

we were diving off Fahal Island.... approx a mile off....
there is a pinical thats 20 m shy of the surface .... plenty of fish hang over there,
when we first jumped in, my brother took a dive and landed a 18-20kg King ... first dive...
we saw a few more smaller ones and plenty of jacks, cudas, few tuna's passed by as well ...
water was clear with horizontal vis of 20+ m, however, there wasa layer of murk at about 7-8m where vis is approx 1-1.5 m, but thats where all the fish were.
My brothe and i both took a dive, and decended to the border line of the murk, and waited... the king came up from the murk to check us out ,.... but never got close enough ,,,,, swam after her for a while, until i decided - what the hell - will take the shot ... was aiming at the neck right after the gills, and thats wher i hit her!
must admit, i did not realize her size at first, was a long shot with no reference to really judge...
she took off and almost finished the line on the reel... my brother was there, i passed the line to him and took his gun... wanted to put a second shot...
the fish took us over 100m

my second shot was in the head... that shot really weekend the fish allot but was not enough to land her, besides the spear never went through ...
had to take one more, and that was in the tail... to stop her from swimming ,....
that shot also never went through ,,

the whole thing took about 30-40 min ... but was worth every min ....
