Recently I took a Freediving course. My instructor mentioned that I was slightly pidgeon toed. I just bought a new pair of carbon fins and I was scrutinizing my kick stroke. I notice that I am a little pidgeon toed while kicking and I tend to rotate at the hips somewhat to compensate for the toe-in. The condition becomes a little more pronounced while surface swimming. It doesn't bother me while diving, but on the surface my fins hit each other.

I don't find this to be a problem or inefficient, but it is a bit annoying on long surface swims. Is this condition correctable or should I just disregard it and adopt more of a bicycle kick for surface swimming?

Thanks

I've been working on this since the third hip operation (three on the same hip) and my left leg is a little pigeon toed. If you put shims under the base of your big toes, the fins will tend to separate during the power stroke. Also, I haven't tried it yet but shims beside your heel on the inside should straighten out the blades too. Neoprene doesn't work and the best source of solid rubber might be two or more layers of a truck inner tube. Let me know if you come up with something that works.

I've been using 5mm and it makes a noticeable difference. Tried it on my cycling shoes and 1/16" helped.
