Dear All,

I started freediving/spearfishing 8 months ago and as everybody will agree here it's very addictive!

Right now we go 90% of the time from the shore to some spearfishing sites we know, but they are not very deep.

I want to know if someone knows a place in Dubai/Sharjah/Ajman/UAQ where me and my buddies could go from the shore and reach interesting depths quickly? I reached already around 10 meters, but I would like to train and try progressively to go deeper. All the places we go for now are around 10 m deep maximum, which is a big limitation!

One more hint: the place does not have to be full of fishes, the goal there would be only freediving training, without spearfishing.

If someone has an idea, I would be very grateful.

Salam,

Abu Ayyoub.

I wish that i could help you with some info about the waters there in Dubai abu but i spent most of my time on land there. But if you ever head towards the pacific islands you always have a place to stay and spearfish here in guam. Best of luck to you!

brother in dubai behind sheraton hotel i believe u can get deep places there...

But you have to keep your buoy with u in case any boat passing by...

If u need to arrange for boat trip i know captain from diba khorfakan he can take you...

The palm island would be perfect for that training, protected from currents, and goes down progressivly to about 14m in spots. Problem is where to dive it there... hmmm.

Thanks for the hints. Dubai marina is far away from my place for a quick training but I will try once. As for the palm, it is not possible to go there unless you have authorization I think, isn't it?

Dive crazy you all,

Abu Ayyoub.

I think Ive met you abu ayoub. If youre based in Shj, its harder to find deep spots, as those need a boat mostly. BUT there is one spot I can reccomend for all-round stalking. Off of ajman mina there is a spot called turtle bay that you can get to with ALOT of swimming along the breakwater: it would be the beach right past the mina parrallel the breakwater. IF you have a kayak, you can paddle out maybe 10 min close to the marker bouy, and there is a beautiful wreck (ask for gps, it is marked with white fishing bouy) for training BUT only 8-9m. You will see small jash, maybe hamour. The best spots for progressive training would be east coast, but that might need work getting to.

Call me / Pm me if you need more info.

I also spent my time on land there. But if you ever head towards the pacific islands you always have a place to stay and spearfish here in guam.
