The latest blood test was all fine and dandy except for the platelet count which has dropped out the bottom. All I can posit is that platelet concentration is lowered to increase viscosity so as to compensate for an increase of haematocrit (caused by hypoxic training).
Any ideas / similar results?
I was thinking exactly the same.
Did you have an increase in hematocrit?
Are you still in normal range (what is usally consdiered healthy) for hematocrit and platelets?
Haematocrit is high but still within parameters. (I would be interested in seeing how high it gets after a good splenic contraction).
Platelets are below the normal range, which is what I am finding odd. I do not have haemophilia.
What did your doctor say?
Do you have any cases of low platelets in the family (not till hemophilia)?

Sorry but I can't think of anything usefull.

I think that by physiology books, splenic reaction can give you up to 5%-6% gain in hematocrit.
