please ID this fish

taken in Thailand, off the shores of beautiful Koh Chang. I know this is mullet in my right hand, but what is this bigger fish in my left hand?

Or maybe point me to a good fish ID chart, there must be one somewhere. By the way, fish was eaten and it was good, whatever it is called, it is rather academic interest at this point.

I would say its leerfish. Or at least cousin of it

not albacore, for sure. Though some kind of tuna, or cousin. Fast mid water swimmer, I couldn't swing spear gun fast enough to take a shot. Not protected because locals did not object, and restaurant staff helped filleting and cooking. Made excellent sashimi (mmmm).

It's a Queenfish - Genus Scomberoides.

They fall in the Carangidea family so related to Trevallies and Jacks.

In line with what Mr X said, I wouldn't recommend shooting a fish unless one knows what it is.

Case in point your Queenfish. The spines in front of the dorsal fin are said to be venomous and will inflict a very painful wound should you get pricked by one.
