Hi all,

I have been diagnosed with pleuritis. Symptoms include sharp stabbing pains all over the upper chest and back but focused on the side (under armpit to the outside of nipple). I’m 3 months into it and this the pain is now the main symptom…it is way lower than when this started 3 months ago.

The initial symptoms also included phlegm in the lungs and throat and some wheezing. This is gone now for about a month.

Chest CT results:
Pleura and Chest Wall: No evidence for pleural effusion or pleural mass.
No pneumothorax No evidence for axillary adenopathy. Chest wall is normal.

I was prescribed and inhaled steroid to bring down inflammation which really helped lower the pain.

I tried freediving for the first time this weekend after being pain free for 2 weeks and being comfortable with heavy aerobics. The pain did come back a bit now.

Does anyone have any experience with this and did it ever go away? Should I stay away from freediving until the pain is totally gone and doesn’t resume upon freediving?

As far as the weed smoking, I was sick with a cold and stupidly smoked everyday multiple times a day to sleep through the cold pains. I have a 15 year history of heavy cannabis smoking and last 5 years of maybe 1 joint per week smoking. I don’t need to be lectured about the damage I’ve done by stupidly smoking and especially not respecting my lungs being an avid spearfisher of 25 years. I feel very regretful and guilty. I am never going to smoke again after this not even one puff and am also engaged in 12 step recovery for 7 years now so I’m doing the best I can to defeat a horrible habit.
