Anyone else noticed a correlation between the tides and perch? It always seemed to me as if sometimes they were strangely absent and the last couple times Ive went, I took notice of the tide, and it seems to me as if they come in with low tide? Anyone else have observations? Good luck bgill.

I don't know if there is a "true" tide on lake Michigan -but surely there are some strong and sometimes strange currents moving in and out at times.

Milwaukee sucked today fish wise...Vis sucked pretty much too. Racine was cool yesterday. Lotta 12 inchers to be had. Probably hit up Kenosha tomorrow if I can! May do better there. Seems like maybe the perch have "gone south" looking for warmer waters?

52*F. at SSYC today.

Lake Michigan does have a tide, but it's measured in inches not feet.

Really? The place where my family spends the summer in DC has a HUGE tidal change. Maybe the beach is just shallow, but the water covers most of the shoreline along jacksonville either way for several miles, whereas during the day there are sandbars and beaches. Although water levels have been falling noticeably. While in Egg harbor when the tide went low, it washed a lot of stuff out of the "marinas" there and made the vis lousy. Went from about 15' to 7'.

Just telling you what I was taught when I worked at the Center for Great Lakes study back in college. Up in D.C. there are large areas of shallow water and the dropping lake depths haven't helped it out either- water is down quite a bit in Lake Michgian compared to when I started diving.

There are other things in the lakes like seiches- which hav killed people in the past. Seiches and Storm Surges

When the winds blow that lake moves around pretty good- which is why we can get 70F degree water 100'+ down when the winds are right this time of year.

Stopped by Racine today to go spearing after I was done working in Milwaukee...No dice...Did'nt even get wet. The water was pretty stirred up. A HEAVY easterly wind, and waves you could've surfed on!

Once the wind dies down a bit the perch action should be better - Easterly winds bring in warmer water - And the perch! Hoping to get out there soon!

Will be in Racine and or Kenosha before 1:00 tomorrow for some MONSTER perch, carp, sucker, shad & drum action! If anyone want's to meet up lemme' know!

I have extra fins, masks, snorkels, and a polespear someone could use. But no wetsuit! You'd DEFINATELY need a wetsuit!

Will post.
