This is my DIY pole spear, its made from the but piece of an old carbon fishing rod with the spear from a 110cm Omer bonded in the carbon tube. The grip is cord under insulating tape. The bands are resistance bands, the red is medium resistance and the yellow light, just held by a dyneema loop that has been attached to the fishing rod butt with a plumbing adjustable ring. The bands are tied with a simple over hand knot. Gives me something to do when I'm not walking my dog or in the water
