I've been looking into these for a while and found no U.S. distributor. The wetsuits from these companies are the sickest ones I've ever seen, but they're all over seas. Would anyone know how to go about getting one of these. The Yazbeck and Omer Med Mimetic are the ones I use now and they rock! My Picasso Ghost has kinda taken a backseat since it looks "too green" in the water (Especially since Catalina has blue-blue-blue water). Please enlighten me.

Greetings oflow. Of the three you mention, I am the most familiar with Elios. You won't find a suit that comes more highly recommended than Elios. They have a wide range of colors, patterns, thicknesses, and consistencies of neoprene, so they can give you exactly the suit you want. Plus, their suits are custom-made to fit you. What more could you want? I plan on getting an Elios myself when the funding makes it possible :) My main suit is now an Omer Ocean Mimetic, which is great but no longer fits.

Anyone else want to weigh in?

I can speak on the QUALITY of Elios- I have 2 of them one 5mm and one 3mm- the 5mm has a open cell interior and let me tell you is really nice in cold water. Here in Wisconsin we dive in 30 degree water from nov through april. Today we were in the water for 3 hours and my body was fine. My fingers got a little cold and i was exhausted from fighting carp all day. Between 3 of us we got 31 carp today. You will not be disappointed with an Custom made elios. Took 4 weeks from the time I ordered to the Time it arrived at my door- in the USA.

31 Carp! Awesome! If your 5mm is okay in 30-degree water, an Elios 5mm would probably be fine out here in California waters. Oflow do you mean wetsuits made by Mares? I believe that some of those are available through the Deeperblue shop. Take a look and see what you can see :)

The Spearfishing World Champion {Patricio Saez} uses Marea, Even though the majority of the people here may recommend Elios frankly that it's all they have ever tried and it works for them. There isn't much comparison in this suits as far as build quality goes. All made in Italy and 100% custom it does not really get any better than that.

The only thing that you will notice differently on this custom made wetsuits of course are their camu patterns aside from that. 100% perfection & costumer satisfaction!

Hey dude have you considered a Hammerhead wetsuit? I hear they rock but I don't know if you want to go that route.

I am probably one of the few freedivers who has not gone for an Elios suit (didn't have the time to wait for it). My first wetsuit was a 5mm Marea (nylon outside, plush inside), and now I am using Teknodiver suits (sponsorship). I am quite happy with both the 3mm (smoothskin outside, metallic inner lining) and 5mm (nylon outside, metallic inner lining).

If you go for a summer suit from Elios, you should order now, because you will have to waaaait. It is so hyped, and everyone is beginning to think about new suits for the summer plus the world championships in September. Marea was faster than Elios when I ordered in May 2006, took about 5 weeks, and arrived just the evening before I needed it, so be sure to put in a buffer when you tell them the date you need it for. I put in some buffer days but the transport to Denmark was slower than predicted. Teknodiver has delivered to us within 3 weeks from the order, but I couldn't say if it will be much slower when shipping overseas. They are worth checking out, if you have not already done so. A little uncalled for advertising for our sponsor ;), but none the less the best advice I can give you.

if only beachat offered custome made suits. i dont think i have seen quality that is better than that suit. now if you are looking for custom fit. there is a site called diveskin.net i beleive they are based in the us and they are extremely cheap, $wise. i dont know about the quality if someone has bought a suit from them please post on the quality. its $189 for a custome fitted suit. i was looking at the merea's website today and saw their suits they look really legit aswell. the sharkskin looks preety cool idk if its worth the price tho, if anyone knows how much merea's charges please let me know i am alost looking for a custom suit, im 6'5" and 175lbs so its hard to find a suit that fits unless its custom made. so if anyone has the price they paid for their custom suit can you describe the suit and the price you payed, possibly a break down of the price, ex $ for elbow pads, $for chest pad, $ for knee pads.

thanks everyone

Yazbek suits are the best of the Best...There is a lot of hard core sience and love put into the making of these suits.

i've been using a yazbeck 5mm for about a year and a half. definitely agree with you about how good of a suit it is. It is still is a tad restricting. not to mention that after a year's worth of use the seams slowly come apart and the lycra kelp pattern changes color. but the camo pattern and color are almost unrivaled for freediving here in southern california. It seems like a pain in the ass to order from an Italian or Greek wetsuit company, even if their website features and english version. cuz at the ordering page they always change to their native language and i can never order one.
