I have a somewhat strange problem concerning my training routine. I started doing some static training in March, and shortly thereafter started doing some CO2 tables to try and reduce the severity of my contractions. Fortunately, that seemed to help, the contractions are much less severe.

In addition to the tables, when I could get to the pool, I'd do a training routine like this (note the hold times are approximate):

Breathup: 2:00
Hold: 2:30
Breathup: 3:00
Hold: 3:15
Breathup: 5:00
Hold: 3:45

About a month ago while doing the above routine dry, I managed to do 4:40 on my last hold, a new PB. Also around this time, I managed to get up to about 2:45 holds on my CO2 tables. I was getting encouraged by the progress. I'd say on average I'd get to the pool maybe once a week and maybe do tables once or twice a week? I would doubt you would say I was training 'hard'.

However, from that point on, I haven't come close to it, I can barely do 2:15 holds on my CO2 tables, and really struggle to get 3:30 on my final hold when doing the routine mentioned above.

I'm really confused, is it possible to suffer from some sort of 'burnout' from doing a PB? Maybe I'm not training enough? Too much (doubtful)? :head Just looking for some ideas...

Work on the "other end" of the equation. Improve your overall metabolic efficiency through regular aerobic and anaerobic exercise.

When I was training with Aharon Solomons, he mentioned doing statics twice a week - maybe three times at the very most - with rest days inbetween. Were you doing statics on consecutive days???

No, I had plenty of rest in between. Usually I'd do either the routine shown and a table in a given week. This is what's so confusing, I don't think I've 'burntout', as I really don't train that hard, compared to others I see here. What got my attention was the sharp decline in performance (or rather effort to get to similar levels) in the days/weeks after my PB...

I find that there are lots of things which affect my static performance. Some of them are in [ame="http://forums.deeperblue.net/showthread.php?p=574936#post574936"]this[/ame] thread.
