Today I tried to upload a photo and it didn't work. I tried to use the FAQ, but there wasn't anything useful.

How do I go about posting an image?

Lucia

Hiya :)
Its easy, when you use the create thread or advanced reply, just a little under the text box is a button called "Manage Attachments" click that then 5 browse boxes will appear, you can use these to navigate to the files you want to upload; then you will need to click the upload button and wait while the data is transfered ZZZZ. Then when it say close this window just check the main window to see if the files are there and bingo :) click the submit and close the upload window :) Sit back and watch the rep come in ;)
Oh the preview post doesnt show the pics by the way (why?) just submitt and they will be there

Hi Alison, thanks for replying. I tried to upload the file, but although it looks as if the data is transferred, it never finishes and the picture doesn't appear on the post even after I submit it. I don't know why...

If you want, you can email it to me and I will put it into your post for you as a start untill we can get you sorted out. I'll pm you my email

Lucia,

Your profile allows uploads so I can't see why it's not appearing.

Can you try posting in here as well.

Cheers.

I think the problem is that when it seems to be uploading, it isn't reading anything off the disk. I tried with the hard disk and a CD-R and the disk light was off, but the green squares were appearing in the upload progress bar.

Hi Stephan,

I tried to email you the file, but it didn't work either. I think there's a problem with my computer, as it won't send photos anywhere.

Hi Naiad

Maybe this is too obvious...but could your image size not be too big ?? If the image is too big the system will reject it ??

Thats a good point, what size are your files Lucia? Its best if you trim them down a bit if they are huge, try resizing them using Microsoft Photo Editor.
You can do this by right clicking the file icon on your computer, then from the box choose open with - Microsoft Photo Editor; when its open click Image - Resize and a pop up box should appear, change the units from cm to pixels using the option box (obvious) then changing the Width and height to something like 800 x 600. That will give a nice small image that can be uploaded quickly.
If you already knew how to do that and I sounded like a patronising cow sorry

That doesn't seem to be the issue. The system would give you an error message if the files were too big.

The issue seems to be on her computer as she can't even email them.

Now you've asked for a fight with an IT guy :D

Actually - it is likely to be related to something other than size. If it was just size the system would error saying the file is too large. I've sometimes encountered problems when the file has had some weird encoding issue or such like.

Ah well - never mind - it worked after all!!
