At this point, just a hypothesis...

Has anyone tried "pre-fatiguing" their diaphragm before a long hold?

It's a muscle, so if I pre-exhaust it... When it starts kicking in, maybe it won't be as strong.

My best holds are always after 6-7 holds of an O2 table when I really go for a max attempt. After an hr of tables and some serious contractions, the diaphragm must be a bit weaker when doing these maxes.

I may experiment tomorrow with it, but wondering if anyone's tried it or heard of it before.

On second thought, with it being tired, it may use more o2 and therefore create more CO2 in the process... Thus shortening the hold.

Pre-fatiguing any muscle is basically stretching it... also while it may be psychologically easier to hold your breath after tables, you are almost certainly not experiencing as much of your body's O2 saving responses like bradycardia and vasoconstriction.
