Predictions anyone? new WR attempts...

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
i think kieran hibbs will smash through the 100 barrier
jana will take some more pan am records
ryuzo will get past 113
will t will break his cnf record maybe fim
herbert will get his cwt record possibly vwt as well

Herbert is such a nutter I can expect him to try for the CWT record. He just goes for it and does not stop until he gets there. I agree with Kelpie, Will T may try for another meter or two on the CNF, he likes FIM too.

In CNF, who can do more than 85m? Do you think Will T needs to do a new world record?
BTW is it allowed to use an EQ for CWT. Didn`t Herbert bust his eardrums on his last WR?

Will T is already doing record at 88m so he at least can already do it. Martin Stepanek i think also has the ability either way the purpose of the record is just to beat others but also to improve on ones self so regardless if noone else can beat him in CNF he still has himself to compete against which for most divers i think is the major reason we do this sport.

NO EQX is only allowed in no limits. and herberts training seems to be going very well so i dont see why he wont make the next level, then again if Martin makes it to Bahamas then who knows what depths will be made. after his 122 in a mask looked very comfortable for him so maybe he has couple of more meters left yet as well.

A pity Bjarte could not join the comp at the Bahama's I'm sure when leaves of a wetsuit and manages to equalise he could go very deep as well!

For CNF I think 90 is already very need, slowly progressing to the magical 100... that still feels to me like a unbelievable depth for CNF, just like when Martin pushed the CNF record from 60 to 80, that was just incredible too!

I think Herbert will be happy with 123m (nice number too) without sacrificing his eardrums. Saving some energy for FIM and his other record attempts after the competition.

I really hope Martin Stepanek can make it in time, and maybe put some fire to William Truebridge's feet in CNF, besides defending his current WR's in FIM and CWT.

As for the girls, I hope that Sara Campbell is in good shape and has her believes and nerves in check to give the strong Natalia a good competition. Jana and the others may find themselves doing some nice progression and PB's.

William Winram may also surprise us when things click for him, and I really hope they will for him.

Ryuzo is progressing every year, slowly creeping up to the top 3, and sure is a medal candidate.

And let's not forget the French Guilliaume Nery, former mulitple CWT record holder, who now is pursuing CNF. From his blog I ready he had just done 77-78m in a dive where he had 0,5KG too much weight. So I think 80m is certainly within his capabilities, maybe even more!

Remember that Alexey Molchanov is there too, and he has done 101m CWT and 83m CNF in competition already.

And Carlos Coste, of course. He did a nice 215m DYN in Århus, so he might have some surprises up his sleeve.

true this year therre are soooo many BIG names which only have to have things "work" for the dive and they could end up with a new world record... its gonna be an exciting comp!!!!!

keep Alexei in Bahamas... if he keeps coming to Dubai not one of us has any chance at winning that bl__dy Range Rover! rofl rofl

My bets are on Herbert this time. And Yasemin's big comeback? :)

Hey,

Martin is not competing this year, he will be there for Niki.

My prediction is that Molchanov's family is gonna kick butt.
WR for Will too

Why would Herbert and Will both push so hard in the competition, given they could probably win easily with much safer dives? If they have record attempts scheduled later at Dean's, surely that would be the time to set records rather than in the comp.

Guillaume and Alexey both are in great shape. I say they are both capable now of a 88-90 meter constant no fins, after hearing all the gossip, rumors, training facts, competition results and what color wetsuit they are wearing.

And Herbert... well Herbert is Herbert. He wants back what is his. And if it feels good, he takes it.

I get the CNF thing... perhaps. But it just seems foolish for Herbert to take such a risk when he has all the time in the world to do a record attempt later on. Unless he's in such good shape he considers 123m a safe dive, that is.

Well, i don't know if "it" is "his" -- I think Mr. Stepanek is the current owner of IT as it were, but it will be interesting to see who pushes for what depths and what eveyone's mind does under-the-pressure-of-performance and having so many other top-athletes around.

Dave i agree with you on he risk so early on i think in comps like this people will also push to the max to both win but also set a record (kinda like a double wammy sorta thing) havent seen it too much in this sport but have seen it alot in other sports. and as said above we have at least 4 people very keen on CNF and i would say they all have records in mind as well.

seeing that herberts training seems to be coming along better than expected i guess he maybe be peaking a bit earlier than expected so will take advantage of it while the diving is good.
