Umberto Pelizzari´s told us at his course, that most of the S.W.B. he saw in his career would be easy prevented if the freediver has breathed when he reach the surface... what an extrange thing, don´t you? When you reach the surface there´s only a thing to do, to breath, but most of this freedivers begin to talk, to yell (because they has set a new record...etc) and to increase the apnea time... the only focus on your mind is to breath.

First when you reach the surface... don´t exhale too forced to not increase dramatically the pressure difference between the CO2 and O2 levels of your body. Exhale slow but continous and then rapidly and deep inhale, to introduce new O2 to your organism and to prevent the S.W.B. phenomena. Repeat this sequence twice or three times and your body will be full of O2 and away from the S.W.B....

I hope to hear your opinions

ditto by Tanya

Tanya Streeter teaches the same thing at her clinics - the importance of focusing on breathing as soon as you surface and not talking, etc. for the first few moments.

Kirk taught us to exhale during the last 10 feet of ascent and to hook breath 3 times when we go to the surface. I saw people samba, but no one blacked out.

It's true

As I've red in rules of AIDA , you have to take off your mask from the face and say clearly your name to the referee.

I did it after my last record dynamic dive and I've felt something like samba. For some 1 sec I forgot to breathe and I became surprised of what hapenned.
