Me, Willer, Wally and hopefully you will be going to Prince Rupert BC for some outstanding adventures. Camping, spearfishing (shore and off a boat). Light fishing pressure means lots of fish, higher limits, more to see.

Leme know!

Erik,

Sounds like it will be one hell of a trip!

Are you from the BC area. I'm wanting to get into spearfishing but don't know much about where to go out here. I live in Mission BC and am thinking about starting with freshwater because there are lot's of lakes around me. Any thoughts?

Hi Michael and welcome.
I live in Alberta but have done lots of freediving and spearfishing on the BC coast.
Freshwater is OK, but doesn't compare to the ocean for lots of reasons. Spearo rules for freshwater are very restrictive for one, and fish are hard to find for 2. Plus it's boring compared to the ocean.

There are a few guys on the forum from BC who hunt- post up a thread and try to hook up with someone out there whose been hunting there.

Anywhere that you can get in where there is current (preferably during slack tide) you'll find fish. The further away from civilization the better. Look up the spearo rules, get in and get some dinner ;)

Erik

Thanks Erik,

You are certainly aloud to spear a hell of a lot more stuff in saltwater than in fresh. I just don't have a wetsuit yet. Only enough$ for a cheap gun. Will probably get a suit in the fall if I find someone close by I can go Separfishing with.

Nice pic by the way!

Thanks for the advice!
