Hello my friends
I have a problem with the West Coast Commercial Diving school
Commercial Diving School South Africa - wccds - Home
I booking a course date of 02/07/2007 and sending the deposit 1000$
but until now they didn't sent to me the invitation letter.
I send to them many emails and make many calls but no result.
please help me about that if some one can tell me the direct phone to Mr.Dan the owner of the school ?
or a way to make complaints to this school ?
or any way to end this situation ?
thank you very much
best regards

The website has a mobile phone number, did you try it?
You can report them directly to the HSE, they will be onto them like a rash.

I also tried on your behalf, all going to answering machines. I suggest you report them to the HSE (UK) - i did that once regarding another commercial diving school in Durban and the HSE responded at once.

Ask an expert
go here, and explain to them that you have registered and paid with an HSE registered diving school and give them all the details.

good luck

HSE is your best option. Write an email and cc your school on it as well.
Unfortunatly, there are alot of Mick Mouse Commercial Dive Schools. The ones in the US and Austrailia are the best.

Years ago, I did alot of research into training as a saturation diver and did alot of research on the trainig schools and programs.

Do you have a specific commercial field you want to get into? i:e Inspection, welding,NDT, IMCA, ROV, Medic?

Try the Ocean Corporation in the US as they are one of the worlds best. There is also Fort William in the Uk, which operates under the Stenmar Group.

Do you all use a cook when you require an iron monger????rofl

The HSE is the Health and safety executive in the UK. If you have a closer look at what they are about you will see it is not financial issues!:rcard

Just what exactly does it have to do with someone who is in need of recourse to his deposit at a SA dive training school.???rofl

No wonder whenever they are contacted with a serious safety issue the phone is busy:head

Please contact someone with too much time on their hands like Michael Cocks who has a close affiliation to the SA diving schools(its a love affair) and is the person behind AMPS(union) for inshore divers and is usually more than willing to help out. Please find said individual on Longstreath.

I think also that if you look closely that the ticket issued is only HSE recognised(I am not positive as this varies between schools ).
@alaa... just the fact you are here with this issue and are so completely unaware begs to ask the question about what you see as a career in diving . Are you sure its not a welder you want to be(joke) Also for a fee I will set you on the road rofl...??!!
@ deepwater.....there is not much you have said here I agree with!

now the lot of you go see an iron monger and stop wasting peoples time rofl

hey there

Someone I know did a course at a commercial diving school in South Africa, and had all kinds of problems, including faulty equipment, not receiving the type of accommodation and facilities he paid for, unsanitary conditions, and so reported the dive centre to the HSE. They responded immediately and sent someone down there to have a look, and asked the dive centre to rectify it immediately. (the dive centre advertised as HSE courses and HSE approved). that's where i got the idea. I dont expect to be shot down by your opinions. Thanks.

Michael Cocks was on site at the time of this event. Apparently he is really old now and this particular dive centre is the only dive centre that will allow him to do dives. Is this true?

omega3, this is a website where people often call for help on various matters and there is no rule against what alaa diver is doing. He was asking advice, is there need to patronise everyone just because we dont have the years of experience as commercial divers that you do. English is obviously not his first language so he may not come across as eloquently as other people, why not give him a break?

Thanks for pointing us all in the right direction - thank god you are good at welding as subtlety is not your strong point rofl

Steady on there Sands

As you say yourself ...poor equipment, unsanitary conditions etc. This is the purpose of the HSE. There is no shooting and no opinions there. Pot and kettle methinks!!

Yes Cocks is old but there is no need to be ageist ...it comes to us all

Commercial....whats that??? PROFESSIONAL diver darling!!!rofl now that is patronising!

I have given him a break and pointed him to Cocks so naaaaaa naaaa na naaaaa!!

All welders are bright Sparks!!! so thankyou

Sorry didn`t mean to rattle any cages. However in this game a kevlar backpack over a ducks back will be required......let me be the one to start this process rofl

No offence taken. x

I am always pointing!!!

Not too many years at sea but "too deep too long" I think describes the symptoms.!!!

Anyway you know what they say about divers.....
