Hi Guys,

For a long time i have wanted to try out the Asso 135 after being a big fan of the 115 with a tovarich kit.

I have purchased a Asso, and already began to make mods:
1. Larger muzzle ports

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

2. Removed power adjuster for greater reliability, more power and lightness.

3. Installed a 1.6 trigger pin for a lighter trigger thanks to Marko (zmajmr)

4. Spring stainless "Hawian Flopper" Spear with Micro Slider.

I put on a special loader which i will put another post up about but have found it is easy to load with a normal loader and a hoop of rope. Loading with 900 pumps is fine.

I will hopefully take it out in the next few days to hunt the yellowtail kingfish which have starte arive on the changing seasons.
I will let you know how the gun goes, it has a reach of 6mtrs so i hope it will smash anything at 5mtrs.

Next mod : Freeshaft Dry Barrel Kit from Marko for 7.14 spear.

Nice work, time to put a dry barrel kit on it, add a reel and you are done. Nice other guns in the background. I have a 90cm asso and a 133 sten and i love them both. The sten has the dry barrel kit already while the 90 sits and waits for its kit to come in the mail.

What kind of reel is that on the grey and yellow handled gun there?

Thanks Kwtony,

The Big Asso won't get a Reel, as it will have 30mtrs of rope attached to the handle at one end and a float at the other. Good Rig for Big pelajics.

The Cressi Sl has a omer match reel.

I saw that loop on the handle and i almost figured it would be attached to a float line. What sort of range do you have with a gun like that. I have my 133 with two and half wraps and it pulls all that and out about 2-3 feet of line from the reel depending on how tight i have the drag set. lll measure its length when i get home tonight. Its bad ass gun and I favor it over most of my others guns right now..

Nice, your Sten 133 must be smashing fish at 7mtrs then? r u using a 7mm or 8mm spear?
I havent used the asso 135 yet, I wanted to use it a little without the dry barrel kit, with my camera, then put the dry barrel kit on (when its ready?) and film the differences.

Ha trust me when i say you will notice a huge difference. I think you should set up a camera at 20 feet and do test shots with out the mod and look at how deep the spear penetrates and then test the same distance with the kit and measure the difference. Youll notice that its a lot quieter too. I use a 5/16 or an 8mm shaft in it but have considered converting it to a smaller 7mm. My 90cm has been changed to a 7mm shaft to get more range and have a little faster speeds, but its not fully assembled just yet so i have to wait to test the differences. It was a slow turd before but i still killed a lot of fish with it, so i have high hopes for it.

Im hooked on pneumatics and will be doing blue-water hunting with the 133 very soon once i gets some of the tweaks worked out. I use it on the reef now and it works very well. I have a speargun collecting problem and i havnt been out enough to get one tested and shooting right before i buy another.

How popular are pneumatics over in AU?? im almost the only person i know that uses one and most people dont like them here in the states.

I have a speargun collecting problem .

Ha Ha me to.

Not many people have them in Sydney, The are popular in Western Australia and up Far North where there is Big fish in Bad viz. I hear they are growing in popularity in New Zeland.

I prefer 7mm shafts in my 115 dry barrel Asso = faster shot & less recoil!
We have had some very active American air gun users in the past but, we dont have many active American forum members full stop now!

the recoil is already way less then any band gun i own, you mean to say there would even be less? Ha, yea fox fish, thats what i was thinking as well. I bought the gun with a stainless 8mm spear, and so naturally thats the type of kit that i ordered. I figured since i wanted to potentially shoot in the blue water id keep the larger spear. I still might buy a 3rd kit from marko but honestly, the 8mm spear is very fast and already has impressive range, i think putting a 9/32 shaft on it would completely ruin me and i wouldn't use my band guns any more. hahah

shot my gun in the canal, measured from behind the flopper and to the handle of the gun and it was exactly 25 feet. Not too shabby, i need to get a gauge and see what the pressure is, because im sure its not at max pressure.

I took the Asso 135 out on the Weekend.
It became my go to gun when the line release disappeared from my asso 115 Tovarich (mares handle).

The gun was very easy to load but gave a solid hard shot to its range of 6.5mtrs pulling the bungie hard. I gave the gun to another diver whos rubber gun broke. he said the same thing real easy to load and just couldnt get over the power!! I think he is a convert to the Dark side ;)!

I got the tomba f714 kit from marko the other day, but havent put it on yet.
I took the gun out for its first dive yesterday. I have to say i am very impressed. The only problem is the metal slide ring seac provide is no longer in stainless??? So it corroded and was stuck on the spear by the time i got home.

Check out my Test video.

you will be using the sliders provided in the kit, you will also need to get a spear that does not rust. The stock one on my seac was garbage and rusted if you looked at it wrong.

Youtube resolve...has worked for me in the past.

1) Go to "My Videos".
2) Select "Resolve Copyright" on the video you are having copyright issues with. OR, go to the video itself and choose "resolve copyright" from there.
3) Scroll down and pick the option "I want to learn more about this dispute process".
4) Scroll down and pick the option "Take me to the dispute form".
5) Pick option #2 and PASTE the following statement into the text bar next to it;

"Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use."

I cant see the vid mate something to do with a copyright!

There was a problem with the music copyright, i have just changed this so it should work now.

I am using a 8mm Stainless spring steel shaft, but it didnt come with a silde ring so i needed to use the orininal. i have ordered some Mares ones.

The idea behind the dry barrel is done with the muzzle and the line slide. You cannot have a dry barrel without those two things...and of course the proper o-rings. Unless of course that is a kit marko has made that doesnt require them.

The Dry Barrel kit hasnt been installed yet. I am still testing without it ATM.
The Dry barrel kit i will put on is a freeshaft kit so the mono is attached behind the spears flopper and no slider is used. which kit do you have on your gun?

On another note I just pulled the slide ring of the spear and found the butt had punched a deep impression into the slide ring hence jaming the ring to the spear butt. Corrosion wasnt the problem on this occasion. This shows how powerful a pneumatic can be without a dry barrel kit.

Interesting vid mate! what that flatfish a sole? You guns seems to have plenty of power, you will notice a much improved shot when you fit the kit.

Ahhh, yes. I wasnt aware of that kit he made, and apprently missed that in the first post. Man, you must be one hell of a shot free shafting with a 130. Hahaha, with the range on my 133 I would never find a shaft if i missed or blew a hole in a fish. Props to you!!!!
