PT-015/C5050 Combo

OK,

I finally got the $ together to get this combo. What else do I need to take pics underwater? I have searched but I just get overwhelmed by model numbers and technical jibber-jabber. Do I need a flash and underwater housing for the flash + cables, hot-shoes, etc.?

I need the "for dummiez" answer here y'all. I am no camera person. Just looking to get into it and I need the equipment before I can begin to learn. That's just the type of learner I am. It's hard to know what people are talking about when they are throwing around so much terminology.

Do you have the camera and housing already? Because they are very scarce these days.

I shoot just the camera and housing, no added gadgets.

You will find that taking 50-150 pics a day will greatly increase your learning curve. Be ruthless, dont settle on an "ok" photo, be harsh on yourself and the pics will improve quickly.

Thanks for the reply shadowkiller. Yes I do have the combo already. Good to hear that you have had results with the combo alone. It looks to me, if I'm right, that I need the FL 20 with an underwater housing. That's going to mean more $ that I don't want to spend. :waterwork

FL 20 = Strobe?

Unless you intend to chuck a wideangle or macro lens on it, you wont really need a strobe as such. The internal flash does a fine job, its just that your aperture and exposure setttings aren't as high (or low) as is possible with a strobe in tow.

Mind you, a lot of scubbies have an obsession with photographing things that dont move... Whereas I like to hunt fish, a situation where the lack of strobe gives me an advantage due to increased manouverability.

Just take your cam and housing out and go nuts. Shot everything and anything. From every angle conceivable. Its the bets way to learn. Then, if you'll be in a much better position to judge what kind of strobe or additional lens you might need.

There's loads of information there. I am using this as a reference myself, for my Oly C5060 and PT-027. I've only just set it up and haven't taken it out of the house yet, so I can't tell you how accurate the information is. A lot of research seems to have gone into it though.
