Qualification Criteria for Individual World Champs

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Matt's right, the rules have never been applied so far - usually with a change at the last minute. I HAVE heard though that they will be definitely applied for the Bahamas Worlds at the end of this year - just because the island can't cope with more athletes than the top 12 rule would allow - but it would be good to hear that officially.

As far as I know, you have to qualify for each discipline individually - so you need to reach the top 12 score in each event you want to compete in.

Yes, this is exactly my problem. I cannot reasonably change my mind in July and decide to travel from New Zealand to Denmark. Even if I could get flights and leave, it would cost many thousands of dollars more to attend.

Worse still, we don't even know what the to twelve performances are for sure, nor do we know how many athletes are allowed to attend from each country. Here in NZ, we have a half dozen athletes that are either in that top twelve or could get there before August. Knowing how many of those can compete is important.

One more problem. We don’t know any criteria for participating on pool WC. In 4 days I go to competition in Belgrade in 18 days I compete in MAD CUP 09. There is no other competition near my country. It would piss me off if I stay one meter or second less than minimum criteria. Or if there is maximum two athletes per discipline per country and I finish 3rd place knowing it would be possible to reach 2nd. I really don’t know why the minimum criteria is steel not published.

Regards!
Jure

Still nothing from an official?

Bill, could you say a couple of words here?

The minima for Bahamas will be out very soon.

The delay is because of mathematical equations between total competition cost per athlete and the desired number of participants.

I guess there will be no minima for the pool WC, but a maximum number of competitor per country/discipline. Will have this info soon as well.

Thanks Bill, that's good to hear. I look forward to the updates.

Good news from Aarhus! The organizers attention is to have as many people on the WC as possible.

There will be 3 athletes per discipline per sex per country + wild cards

There might be a max of 200 athletes, though.

So, all the kiwis should book tickets and holidays NOW!

There will be a base fee for all who participate (athletes, extras and coaches) plus one fee per discipline to start in.

It all looks very, very promising and I can tell you, the guys are putting a lot of effort and good energy in it.

I heard rumors about free accommodation in an old school across the street from the pool for all who are willing to bring their own sleeping bags and mattress... the school has a kitchen that can be used... but food will be included in the base fee...

So, you do the math... are on or not?
