Headed out yesterday with Alan and OVang to Elliot...This was a "Hurry grab your shzit, lets hit the water" trip that started around 3pm. We launched outa Homestead to meet some pristine water conditions. The bay was a lake and the viz looked quite decent. I'll admit its been years since I've hunted Elliot, and frankly I think its a bit over fished. Our first drop was on a nice reef (what reef isn't nice in Elliot, right?) in about 20' the vis was T-B, but the fish weren't in da'house. I ventured out a bit more towards 30' and found a nice ledge that had quite a few fish but nothing worth shooting with my new 120, viz was T-B in some parts and milky on top in other spots, we regrouped and headed back to this area on the boat and dropped the claw on the ledge. We managed a few go's, hogs, cudas and yellowjacks, we moved over about a mile to another reef and shot some more reef denizens, pan fryer size, current was strong but manageable, viz was "patchy milky" in some areas and T-B in others, we headed in about 6'ish...now the climax as we approached the marina we were swarmed by a cloud of no-seeems and skeeters, this was amazing just a complete feeding frenzy of blood suckers, its the first time I've ever literally ran off the marina and grabbed my truck and loaded gear in under 1 min. so be warned if ever in the Homesteads Bayfront marina...no pix on this trip, la proxima.
