Hey just a quick question,

I am trying to set up my Cressi SL 100. The gun came with a length of black cord but I'm trying to decide whether to put one together with Mono or Spectra/Dyneema.

Since it did not come with any shock cord so I will have to make one of those too.

For the shock cord I'm going to put one together with some surgical tubing, snap swivel and Spectra/Dyneema cord but how about for the main line?

What is the best material choice for the main line for this gun? Mono? Spectra/Dyneema?

Thanks guys!

To be honest your better to go to your local shop. A bungee for your mono/dynex costs about $5 with a shark clip. But for your line I prefer mono cause the shaft doesn't tend to cut it as easily but dyneema is stronger

Thanks for the replies.

That's my worry too about using braided lines as they tend to tangle up quite easily (at least they do when I fish with them). What I'm hoping is that since the line that's used on spearguns are quite thick (2mm to 3mm), that might lessen the line's tendency to tangle up.

I just took a closer look at the line/cord that came with my Cressi and it looks like that it might just work ok. Not sure if it's a simple nylon braided ord or it was made from a more advanced fiber. I'm going to give it a shot and see how I like it.

What is the thickness of Spectra/Dyneema line you guys would use on this gun if I were to change it out?

Thanks again for the replies

Thick line takes a lot of guns power (50-70%). Try to shot with 1 mm and 2-3 mm and compare!
It is better to have 1-1.1 mm mono, and the reel with 50 m of spectra/kevlar.

Thanks for pointing that out.

I have read about that a while back but have completely forgotten about that.

I'm going to experiment with mono and compare it with the cord that came with it.

Question, 1-1.1mm mono line, how many lb/kg is it rated? I'm thinking that I might be able to "steal" some from my buddy's tuna fishing supply if I know what lb test to look for, thanks!
