RA caranx

i recently bought a RA caranx and it came with, i think, 1 20 mm band. i wanted to change it to 2 smaller bands, what width should i try.
also the gun tends to shoot to the right, i dont think it is just me. i set up a target with a line down the middle and all the hits were on the right side. does anyone know how to stop this?

Could be the gun or could be you.
I don't know this gun in particular, but as a general advise check if the shaft seats perfectly straight, then check wether the handle, barrell and muzzle are mounted perfectly in line, and also check the symmetry of bands.
If all is ok with the gun, it could be you.
Such a strong gun might give a bit of recoil, whipping the muzzle up (secondary recoil) and pushing the gun butt backwards (primary recoil). Just make sure that the primary recoil doesn't make your arm bend: the arm might bend while the shaft hasn't passed through the muzzle yet, messing up the aiming. Maybe that's it, but I'm just guessing.
Try to shoot with a very firm arm, OR try to absorb recoil by just slightly bending your arm in a "controlled" mode (with no side shifting).

ahahah No U did the right the You bought an RA o_0!. As far as your problem goes I have not experience this with mines and I have two 20mm bands. As specified above I shoot my gun with a very stiff arm and as far as I'm concerned I have not noticed any misdirection of my shaft. Most of my shots are with one rubber I usually load my 2nd rubber when I go a lil bit deeper or think there might be bigger fishes down there other than that I would not need it I think 1 is plenty to be honest. Omer rubbers look weak!

Philly, I suppose your gun goes with the standard setup with a 7mm spear. I bought my RA Caranx 120 with a 6,6 mm spear and one 20 mm band. I had tested it and it was perfect. Infact I was not able to use it in real shooting much. My first catch with this gun was a huge amberjack which resulted in shaft bending. I couldn't use it anymore. Now I use a 7mm spear with two 16mm bands. I am very pleased with the results.
I think that more power will do a considerable recoil. Anyway I am happy to read Armandozx's words that he hasn't got any problems with two 20mm bands.
I've never experienced the problem you have.

If you want more power,2x16mm bands is the normal config. RA offer on their Tuna gun. 2x20mm sounds excessive to me - but then I've had spears bounce off big mullet, and we don't get real big fish, so what do I know. If you want easier loading, one of the US forum members mentioned having a wooden speargun with two imperial sized rubbers, which worked out at 14mm.

:hmmI wonder why you need two hands to fire this? I wonder if it is muzzle heavy? That can be very tiring. I placed a cork in the second rubber hole of my gun to lighten the muzzle - apparently the Italian spearos do this to their guns sometimes too. It helps (perhaps that's why the new Omer HF2 has that weird muzzle bulge?). Or perhaps something to do with the way you are holding it. I usually try to shoot with a straight arm & aim down the side of the gun - it's not always practical to do that though.

BTW I noticed recently that some American guns use double 14mm rubbers - although they use imperial inch fractions to specify the rubber. We did some crude calculations on an earlier thread - I can't recall the exact result but I think the power order looks something like this:

16mm < 18mm < 2x14mm < 20mm < 2x16mm

and probably assumed power was proportial to radius squared.

its not heavy, using two hands just locks it up better. firmer hold
