Hi all

been quite scares on the bord but been chocker block. Hope everyone is well.

So I have just got a new toy/ love in my life. A 110 carbon.

I love it and its is a bad ass piece of kit.

The only thing is I am having trouble with the line release. I have a double rap on as well.
So the trouble is that the spring on the line release is too strong. Also if I use the shock bungee to have enough pull and tension on it as I have an open muzzle it puts a bow in the spear.

Hmm that was tricky to put in words. Please say if you dint have a clue what im saying!

Thanks

Jim

What you are saying is even when you pull the trigger, the line release will not go down and release the line.

Did you replace the plastic line release with a metal one ?

I don't have any RA but maybe you need to tune the line release.

The carbon gun comes with a metal one.

Yea you got it. even with the spear out of the gun i Have to pull hard on the line release.

Also just pushing with my thumb i can feel it is very stiff

I don't have a Rob Allen, I would think that is a defect, but I will let the RA guys comment on it.
I wonder if the line release was pourly assemble, you need to take it appart and put it back togheter.

Hi James,

Nice gun! Have you taken it to RI yet?

I have two blue handle aluminum RA guns which I upgraded to the SS line releases and never encountered the same issue you are having. After the spear is off the line release should protract more smoothly than what you describe.

I would call Florida Freedivers, if i were you. They are the US rep for Rob Allen and should be able to help you fix this issue. Talk to Mike or Cherryl. Sounds like replacing the trigger mechanism cartridge will do the trick. It should be covered by their warranty if it is a defect, which it sounds like it is.

Regards,
Claudio

Oh, one more thing. If you'd like to see it for yourself, just remove the metal pin close to the safety switch and slide the trigger mechanism cartridge up. You will be able to get a better feeling if there is something wrong with the spring that control the line release.

Here is a picture of the vecta trigger mechanism for your reference:

To Claudio That is a grate pic of the mec....Were you get it? I could of used it about 1 hr ago!!!!haha
Hope to use it early next week in RI you around??

Too every one I fixed the problem by taking the hole trigger system apart and removing the spring that was causing the problem for a tough release. So now the release is just lose when the spear is out. ALL gooood
THANKS

Hi James,

That photo comes from the site of Rob Allen's representative in Portugal and Spain:

Rob Allen Ibérica - Punho Vecta

Glad you solved the problem. I am planning on hitting RI this Sunday, and maybe Monday if I can get away from Boston. Send me a PM if you want to meet up for a shore dive.

C.
