Rob Allen guns need no introduction....so the question is.....how do Rabitech guns compare to their RA counterparts.

It seems Rabitech guns are a bit more expensive than the RA guns...but are they any better.

So...is it RA or Rabitech for power & accuracy.

Thanks for your comments.:martial

Absolutely no clue whatsoever. However, I thought I'd give a bump to this post as noone has replied in 3 days and I would like to know too.

I dont think there is much of a difference when it comes to power and accuracy. Allthough I personally havent shot a RA and prefer Rabiteck due to the fact that the guy who makes em lives literally 10mins away from me and hes prices are way better than any RA Ive seen, but most of my dive buddies owns at least 2 or 3 of both makes of gun and easily switch between the 2 brands without preferance, so thats how I come to the conclusion that there isnt much of a differance. I also know that Miles hunts with both brands so maybe he can shed some more light if he happens across this thread but Ive got a funny feeling hes going to have the same thing to say. Both brands are developed for similar hunting conditions and both has the same type of rugged constuction so... its up to availability and personal preferance in the end of the day I think

Sweet quote there Deepthinker.

It must be why I get so damned tired after I've read DB for a while because it gets me thinking so much.

And...speaking of RobAllen gun availability, anybody want to steer me in the direction of a supplier. I've found a couple, just wondering what everybody else does. There are not alot of good storefront options in Michigan (read that as 'zero')rofl .

I don't a RA or Rabitech but in the Hawaiian Skin diver magazine had both of them tested back in 2005, the Rabitech shoot a little better, I also think the Rabitech may be a little easy to load since it has the loading pad.

I remember that issue of the Hawaii Skin Diver: they shot some dozens of different guns for accuracy comparison tests.
And for as long as I remember, you'll be surprised of this but they came to the conclusion that the most accurate of the lot is the Omer T20 modified with a full length rail. Please correct me if I remember wrong. :ko
However, I'm getting curious about South African guns and I'll try to buy a Rabitech from Dave next time my wife goes to meet her parents for some days...:chatup

The most accurate was the Mark Valantine gun, but I would much rather have a T20 then a Mark Valantine gun. I try to scan the test Monday.

First of all Strangelove, I wish you had a great Birthday (it was this week, wasn't it?). :friday

Yes please do! It has been already scanned and posted on DB last year by Mak laboccetta, but the scan was very small and really hard to read. That would be a good data base for all of us.
However, I think that such a test should be taken with a healthy bit of skepticism. No doubt about the honesty of the testers (they were members of the Sporasub team, but as you see they did not rate Sporasub guns as the top of the lot: this means they're honest). But whatsoever shooting so many guns, in a pool, some open muzzle and some closed, some with euro bands and some with circulars, is no scientific evidence of accuracy: it's just an interesting feedback.

Spaghetti, thaks is my Birthday was Monday, and you also were correct, when I came home I've checked the magazine, the T20 shoot the best (the one with the rail and 6 mm shaft), the T-20 with the thicker shaft was underpower.

I also agree that the test should be taken with a grain of salt, the sporasubs shoot really poorly in test.

I don't have a scanner at home, I will try Monday.

Wow, so I have the perfect weapon on my rack!
T20 RULES!!! :friday
PS-I'm sure that the older Omer Master or a Seatec Trb would have won the accuracy contest had they been tested too. But a T20 shoots pretty straight indeed for such a lightweight gun. And yet, I haven't tried RA and Rabi.

The RA did not shoot that well, the funny thing was the tested model was 90cm while the others were 100.
The bad thing about having the perfect weapon is now when you miss a shot will be a 100% your fault, while all the others that do not own t20 might be able to pass some blame to the gun ; )
Talking about the RA on the 1999 magazine the RA was also tested and the two tester gene higa and wayde hayashi complain about the RA being difficult to load. Again I don't have those guns so I am just repeating what was written in the magazine.

So, is the rail mod a do-it-yourself or is it sold that way? Where would a USA mainlander order one from?

You mean the T20? The rail is sold separately and you have to stick it on the barrel. We're talking about the T20 with carbon barrel, open muzzle and circular band, sold in camo pattern green or blue.
gun:
OMER T20 Carbon Med Mimetic Speargun
rail:
Guía integral de varilla Universal OMER

For buying in Usa check the contacts at Spearfishing and Freediving Equipment - Technosport, Inc., website of the american rep for Omer and C4.

PS- Strangelove, when I miss a shot it's alwas the fault of the fish! :t And yes, I've hijacked this thread: my apologies to all.

Good point !

Don't worry about the thread I plan on posting the test monday that should help the thread creator to by his gun, also I have not started writing about my teak-sea pal.

spaghetti here it is the 2001 and 2005 tests, I agree, they need to be taken with a grain of salt, but still fun to read. When I buy guns I always look how ergonomic they are to load (butt support), also the line release and the reel, that is why I am buying a an OMER HF latter this year.
