rails for gara 200

hi to all.
this is my first post (but several month of reading).
I want to add rails to my gara 2000 fins to get more efficency (bad spelling). Hope that some of you could give tips of how to make/where to buy or even if any of you does it and would sell it to me... thanks

Hi Marginatus and welcome to DB! If you have the money I'd get a pair of Gara 3000 or fiberglass - carbon fins, but only if you want to spend a lot! The thing is I can't imagine what a set of rails would have to be like and what materials they'ld be made of to work. It would have to be something flexible and with memory so they'ld snap back and help impulse the diver forward. Maybe someone here has a better idea than I about these matters and can help you out.

Keep us informed, I'm interested.

Adrian

You mean rails as in to prevent sideslip? I think the easiest way would be to find a cheap fin that has them cut them off and glue them on the gara. I wouldn't recommend doing it though, I just cannot imagine it working properly and it will disrupt the dynamics and flexibility of the fins.

welcome to DB

thanks for the reply's.
yep, the idea was to prevent the sideslip.
there's a "strange" option: the rubers that we put on car doors to keep them from hitting walls... what do you think about that?
Fernando

I have glued 'L' section rubber strips ( from a car door accessory supplier ) to my Breier fibreplastic fins, and they have worked fine. But I also have a pair of Gara 2000s, and to be honest, I wouldn't bother. There's very little sideslip with the Garas, as they have channels cast in, and the blades are quite thick. The Breiers are much thinner and had no channels, so sideslip was a real problem without rails.

i friend of mine tried for ages to glue rails to his garas without any longlasting success, though. they always came off too soon no matter what glue he used. now he has some c4's.

cheers,

roland

i'll probably leave it as it is...
