Here is more closer look at the Ramsis handle frame & trigger guard.
The handle & trigger guard are cut out from 3 mm stainless steel....can be mounted on straight or angled stock..​

The trigger guard also goes well with 100% wooden handles for those who prefer an all wooden handle.​

The picture is a low quality image of the actual product so excuse this amateur photography.​

Master Ihab !! bringing this canon to life is just one heck of a JOB WELL DONE !!! Can't wait to test the final version on the next trip. I would say that the slick design, the effort & thought exerted to produce every single part of the Ramsis 100 will have a hands on impression from all divers who will use it.

Thanks for the much needed support.

Yesterday, after almost finishing the putting the gun together final coat of paint…which came out more than expected (but I leave this part to you when done)…I literally broke the gun :head:head:headby trying to pound on one of the stainless steel tubes with a hammer, trying to force it down the whole made to tie the bands……this was at 1 a.m. at the carpenter's shop……..I just could F***k***ing believe it:vangry….it was almost done……99% done…….…just needed the epoxy coating to dry…can you believe this……anyway, I'm starting again on another today……Thanks again .

u will need test drivers man, I am listing if ur building one.
As to ur last unfortunate episode with the assembly, always remember, what does not kill u makes u stronger my friend.
U have a long line of enthusiasts who r waiting for u to finish, so keep it up

Getting close to finalizing the Ramsis Speargun.
By now, not only do I have respect to all the Gun builders (including you Gil) but also appreciate their enormous efforts to come up with the guns we all enjoy today.​

I based my current design on a 100 cm gun (Euro size), 2 x 16 mm bands & a 140 cm shaft (6.75 mm).
These size guns have to be easily maneuverable to track small to medium size fish.
Total stock width is 45 mm, 30 mm thick…and 107 cm from trigger to end of muzzle.​

Both models are identical except for the butt area, tried experimenting in coloring the Teak …not the best idea but it can be done….I prefer the clear coating.​

Made a small test in the pool yesterday, accuracy & maneuverability were quite satisfying, only thing missing is balancing / ballasting.
Recoil is practically unnoticeable…the stainless steel handle + ss trigger guard give the gun a bit of weight at the butt end.​

I'm going on a fishing trip next weekend and will try to post a short video for testing the guns. We are having an interesting person on that trip from Spain ….he writes for Apnea magazine and an excellent diver/underwater photographer.​

Beautiful guns ihab! I REALLY like the handle and trigger guard. If you think you could ever get a couple of sets over to Hawaii you let me know!

If you dont mind me asking why did you choose that style of line release as a appose to a side or bottom release?
 
Very nice looking gun brother congrats your work... Would you please post closer pic of your muzzle side because i am going to make gun soon and i am not sure how to make that part...

Salahthefish, here we go.
There is a slot opening in the very front area, I don't know if you can see it, so that you can slide the band's dyneema then insert the circular band already rigged..........let me know if you need anything else.

beautiful guns IHAB, very hard to fault but you asked for negatives first so...

- i'd consider tapering the muzzles and line of the rubbers a bit more
- side line release (but one development at a time)
- BRAND it!

otherwise everything else is positive

- one of the few wood guns i have seen with a true rear handle
- remarkable handle and trigger guard
- elegent and simple line release setup (little slow to reload)
- low profile gun well built

if i could get one in a 130 euro length with a 7.5mm shaft i'f be a happy man!

congratulations on a brilliant piece of work!

I agree with DivingDane.
If I were to be very critical then the muzzle looks a bit "boxy" & a bit blunt!
However over all the gun looks superb quality

Hey Ihab, Sorry for the lag on my replies, you know I just returned from a long trip & as usual slammed with work. I have checked the pictures WOW man & they look great. The finishing & color variation seems perfect to me. I know that you still have some finishes but to tell you the honest blunt fact after holding the gun in my hands: Guys this is "OUTSTANDING" !! The weight of the gun is surprisingly very light. The usual weaknesses in any gun does not exist specially at pressure points. I just had some comments on the coatings & as well the final cross section of the Barrel which should improve the buoyancy from vertical "gun but down" position to a "flat full float" position . Otherwise I do have my trigger finger itching & can't wait to try it out soon. I'm sure the progression will be remarkable. Now I suggest that when you completely have this canon ready to submerge, you will have to record some numbers:

Dry weight with & without shaft, gun weight in water loaded, Maximum range on still target, Actual kill range & filming the recoil movement.

I see that DivingDane mentioned Branding; I totally agree with that if you will be going commercial soon.

One last thing Ihab, 1:00 am at the Carpenter !!!! Man thats too much, you should take it easy & have a clear relaxed mind when you are working such details. However that is the tax you pay for creating a premium piece like that.

The result of our last trip, Ximo from Spain was testing the guns....Following were the results:


16 kg Grouper....and of course Ximo is one of the best freedivers I've ever met.

I have a quick question on the release line aspect of this gun? how does it function actually? Does it sometime jam or get stuck?

The final version of the Ramsis gun is done.....also the stainless steel frame handle are now available with Mahogany wood plates.....here are a couple of pictures.
