Well.... Been a while since I was on here. I decided to track down a great guy called Connor Davis so came here first.
I think I might be one of the originals?
I have continued freediving and spearfishing but have focused on ultramarathons for the last 5 years so lost track of the dive forums.
Anyway, nice to be back and I'll try to contribute.

Life is wonderful as always!
I wrote to Connor saying I'm grateful to wake up with my cats and have a latte watching the birds in the backyard.
Career change again and looking at another :)
GF change but not looking for another :)
You? Still married? Working? Still got that scooter?

Life is good. Yep, still married. We just celebrated six years of marriage. Time has sure flown by. There have been a few job changes in the last few years as well. I recently left my job at the Department of Fish and Game. I'm currently learning upholstery so I can open my own shop. That way, I'll only have to deal with customers and my own perfectionism, rather than layers of bureaucracy and all of the headaches involved. It's going pretty well.

I ended up selling my motorcycles. It wasn't the right time or place for them. One of the major factors was that my brother-in-law was in a head-on collision that shattered both of his legs below the knee. He was riding a motorcycle at the time, and there was nothing he could have done to prevent it. It took extensive surgeries and physical therapy to get him walking again. I took a long, hard look at the risks and benefits, and at this point in time, it ain't worth it. That might change in the future, but for right now, I'm bikeless. Haven't done much diving for a while, but I'll go back to it when the time is right.

Glad to see you back on the forums :)

For those of you who don't know Erik, he is one heck of a diver, not to mention a great host for a southern boy who stumbled into some Pacific Northwest diving, and a very good spearo. Know many who can shoot two big rockfish on a 10 second dive in thick kelp?

Welcome back Erik!

Connor

Thanks Kars, I did miss watching your excellent and thoughtful support for others here. I hope all is well in your world.
I have done lots of ultras; many 50k's and some good ultra-relays. Canadian Death Race is still haunting me as I solo'd it twice but didn't get past 100km for a few different reasons (overtrained with 4 ultras in 3 months and vomiting the next time from calorie intake). I split it with another runner and did the first 67km a few times. It's 125k of mountains.
Sinister 7 is a brutal 148km mountain race that I split with a friend; I did the last 82km. They've made it a 100miler now!
I've done some halfs and other races over the years too.
The time commitment for ultras is a huge deal and tends to take over my life. This year I have dome a 50k, split a 50k, and just ran a 21k last weekend.
I might do a 100k in Sept but depends on other thing going on this year.

BTW just did a VO2 test with 22kilos of firefighter kit and hot suit/helmet on; Max was VO 48,which translates to VO50 without the gear on. Max HR was 197, resting HR 42.
I'm 52 so quite happy about all that!
Do you run?

You seem to be making the most of your life Eric!
The drum pictures give the impression of a large venue?
I used to run but my knees got fed up with that.

Ah, KTM! You have excellent taste in motorcycles. Still have any of the sportbikes? Are you going to fight fires, or did you do the test just for the fun of it?

I sold all my sportbikes :sour:
I had a 2001 VFR that was probably the best bike I've ever owned but I sold it. Idiot.
I am in application process for city firefighter. Huge competition (1700 applicants, down to 400 now for 30 jobs) but I'm doing ok in the year-long process so far. If I get would be cool. If not, cest la vie!

Maybe 500 people at the biggest show. I don't play that much but keep my feet in the game. Actually one of my bands has a record contract.the Just waiting for last set of guitar tracks to get on the board then who knows.
Here's a link. I'm not on any of the older vids/albums but you get the idea.

Hi Dave!

Sorry for the late reply; I've been very busy and without computer for a while. I'm now attempting to catch up ;)

Dave the photo's look great and you look very happy! The numbers are very impressive and it's very cool to see you maximise your life!
I'm just 38, and looking forward to a day of sport beginning September. The plan is to use a race bicycle and cycle 110km and then swim for about 6km, and then 110km back, in 1 day. It's not a fenced off course, and we need to navigate our way past a city, across rivers, busy traffic. Luckily we meet some friends at their places, so we can eat and refill the water bottles. We'll video it; but I don't know when or if I'll publish it on youtube.

Like your KTM, it would be the model I would buy. I'm considering obtaining a motor drive licence and a dual sport bike, something like a Transalp 650. At the moment I ride a MT5, 80cc moped ;)

I hope to climb the Mont Blanc again this year, but we need to see how the weather is in our time-window.

Currently I'm very happy with my new freedive buddy, who I need to keep up with. Because I was without a buddy for a long time, my freediving numbers have sunk; so I hope I can get back in freediving shape, along with the increasing abilities of my buddy.

A few months ago I found a new - season - job. It's simple but it pays the bills and allows me to do some overdue replacements.
The job at the moment is about 36h a week, so my days are filled and planning is harder or simpler depending on how you look at it.

Thanks for the lovely photo's!
