Really BIG fish

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Sometimes if abysmal fish come up over a certain depth their air bladder doesn't work any more and they can't get back down, causing death.
 
Amazing. Apparently they do come to the surface when sick or dying.

We get them off the CalCoast fairly regularly and then they end up in the LACO Natural History Museum . . . in a tank of preservative. What a horrible reward for your karma!

Same here, they seem to want to destroy themselves on surfacing, a very majestic fish. Hope this is legible:
