Hey guys, I just recently bought a pair of cressi gara 3000s. I have not used them yet. I plan on diving a spring near orlando florida for my first official free dive since getting into the sport. I relize that my 3000s are not going to be ideal for this type of dive in tight spaces and relatively shallow depths. So. For my question...what are some options for me as far as a smaller fin goes? My budget is limited to about 50 bucks, give or take a little. Thanks.

The cressi's are just fine for what you plan to do, stick with them.

Going to Blue Springs? It doesn't get much tighter than the back door route to the cave. I wear my cressi's for that, works fine. Otherwise, there is plenty of room.

For getting started, more open water is a good idea when getting used to any longfin.

We are going to dive the wakiwa spring, are you familiar with that one? Its much more shallow than blue spring from what ive read and it also appears to be a little tighter. Do you thing the garas will be ok there? Im planning on going to blue spring soon, im going to do that on a day that i dont have my daughter though.

Depth is not the issue, shallow or deep doesn't matter. If you are in places so tight that you have to back out, longfins get in the way. Otherwise they are fine. Not familiar with Wakiwa.

Dive safe.

Cave diving in a tight spot for a first Freedive and a first time with new equipment (let alone fins) would make me a bit nervous.

Really its cavern diving not caves, i shouldnt have put caves. A friend just explained the difference betrween the two lol. Also..i have been snokeling years ago, but this will be my first time doing it where im actually treating it like a sport.

Echo thoughts above on first time cave/cavern etc. At least don't go into any spots where you can't just swim up.

This will sound a bit nuts and of course it really depends what it's like but I'd recommend... gloves! :) if it's rocky, barren terrain I like 'climbing down' by pulling myself on the rock, it can be good fun although you'll probably need to figure something out for EQ...

Having said this, do ask/check if it's ok to touch first - if there is anything living on the rocks you might/will cause damage and of course you might cause damage to the rock formations themselves.... It really depends what it's like, from what you are saying I am imagining a deep, rocky pool lol
