As you know, we have had to cancel our competition due to lack of enthusiasm... however a few of you were planning to come to that competition specifically to set some national records - so we have decided to organise the weekend around that instead. We will have international judges present, a medic and will try to get all the video and everything else you need organised.

If you would like to come and have a bash at FI, No Fins Constant, CW and your National record is less than 71m - we could help you beat it - (more than that and you need to bring some explosives to make the lake deeper!)

Let me know and we'll see if we can do it....

Records will be on Saturday and Sunday will be more of a fun day - still dreaming up the challenges but it should be a laugh. Saturday night, for sure, there will be some kind of party...

S

we'll work it out once we know how many of you there are - judges will be there anyway so only costs will be doctor, video, scuba cover, NDAC entry fee - so far we have 3 possible attempts going on

it's been a while since i did any free immersion (3 years in fact!) so it might be a good opportunity to set myself a PB in a safe environment. the main reason why we don't currently do deep FI is because of the safety aspect -no retrieval method.

Hi Alun,
This is off-topic, but just a quick question: How does retrieval in free immersion differ from constant weight? Why don't the same safety arrangements work for both?

Jussi

we dont have scuba divers. counter ballast is the only option for us, but that's not easy when you have a big heavy weight at the bottom of the rope.

cool - Alun our scubies are desperate for a reason to sit on the bottom of the quarry so get training!!

S

If you are going to join us for this - don't forget to announce your record attempts to your local AIDA and make sure you know everything that they require to recognise the record so we can make sure it is in place

thanks

Sam

this is going ahead - let me know soon if you are interested. Cost will depend on how many people but is basically the cost of the medic (£60 for the day) plus the cost of the scuba cover - it won't be massive. Judges and kit is already there.... NDAC is £6 to get in.

So far it looks possible that we will have attempts in Free Immersion and CWNF for several different nationalities - if you would like to join us tell me as soon as possible.

Sam

Cost for this is looking like around £50 per athlete plus NDAC entry (£6)

Please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to make an attempt

We will also need some strong safety freedivers that day - if you can help with that, also please give me a shout and we will cover a beer or two for you in the evening.

Thanks

Sam

This weekend will focus mainly around the record attempts. At the moment we don't plan to offer cover below 25m on the Saturday for anyone not making a record attempt. We do however need lots of safety divers, rope haulers etc. We also suggest that everyone take a potter around the shallow end to enjoy the new tanks, planes, diving bell, swim through tubes and other attractions that are all between 6m and 18m.

On Sunday, there may be a couple of attempts going on but we will also do our best to offer the cover requested for everyone else as well - so if you would like to come, please let me know which days and what depth you need as usual and I will confirm whether or not that is possible.

Sunday afternoon is the BFA AGM at Chepstow so I hope everyone will stay for that.

Sam

Please could you also let me know by 5pm Wednesday if you would like to come out for a pub dinner with us Saturday night so I can book somewhere

Chepstow is not too good at coping with groups of our size without a little warning.

It won't be anything too expensive or flashy but it could be fun

Sam

Sam, I'll be there all day Sat, so can buddy/safety until the afternoon.

Damn, missing another Saltfree night out .. but I'll be there on Sunday.
