When surfacing after a dive I do a partial exhale and either some hook breaths or just some passive exhales/inhales and finally resume tidal breathing. I like to contract all of my muscles (Not very aggressively) to get my circlulation going a bit. My logic is that the blood will be somewhat desaturated after a deep dive and I want to move fresh oxygenated blood through my body to prepare for then next dive.
Does this reasoning make sense?
If I don't contract the muscles then I will move, swim a little or do something to get blood moving.
I have a friend who does the opposite. He surfaces and pretty much goes to sleep!! Once he looked like he blacked out!! I said, "What the h#%& are you doing?!" He replied, "I'm resting."
I wanted him to hear it from the pros. That is why I posted this.
Thanks!
