Hi

A couple of buddies and I often head to Sharm and Dahab for recreational freediving trips. We particularly enjoy several locations in Sharm/Ras Mohammad that offer easy access from shore to great locations where we can spend the day at our leisure and we frequently see something interesting swim by to photograph. We also sometimes join a dive boat to Tiran and freedive while the scubies do their thing. Not sure how the recent restrictions in Sharm will affect our ability to do all this plus it's getting harder to ignore all of Sharm's downsides.

So thought it would be good to give one of the Eco villages in Marsa Alam a go - Nakari, Shagra or Wadi Lahami. Any recommendations which is the best for the kind of recreational freediving mentioned above? Lahami seems interesting but I suspect it doesn't offer much in the way of shore based freediving. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Ross

Our club does organises regular freediving holidays: Holidays | notanx - you'll notice that the accommodation is at Shagra. I've never been myself so can't tell you much but everyone always has lots of fun and is raving about it. There's a video on that page so that you can get a taster of what it's like there..

Give them a shout through the site if you are interested - they have some deals negotiated so if you wanted to stick around you'll save some ££ and meet some great people!

Thanks for that Simos. The lady at Oonas divers mentioned the trip also. Knew of the Notank trips and have seen the vids but unfortunately not able to make the week they are going... Looks like a good trip.

In fact, looks like we'll be going the week after - just wanted to be sure that the house reef there is interesting/suitable for 7 days of recreational freediving and photography down to about 25-30 metres, rather than training on lines, with the occasional trip to other locations with the scubies ie Abu Dabbab for the dugong and Shaab Samadai for the dolphins.

Cheers

Ross.
