Recurring Ear infections-Help!

Hi all

over the past few months i have been dogged by recurring outer-ear infections. I have been on course after course of antibiotics, but they don't seen to be clearling it up.

I am still in the water, shallow diving and fin swimming, temp 5 degrees, but I am getting fed up with the sore ears.

Has anyone else come across this,

any constructive advice apprecitiated

i get these a fair bit too, does it feel clogged as well or just sore? if its sore, i got a spray bottle of some sort, fill it with warm water, and just keep on squirtin for about 2 mins, then i lean to one side, let all the water run out and then im fine. hope this helps ?

There are maaany, many, many threads addressing it in DB - just use the search function. Generally, it is advised getting the ears clean and dry after the dive as soon as possible. Different solutions, including a mix of vinegar, alcohol and hydrogen peroxide, are often proposed. Many divers use a drop of medical linen oil into each ear before the dive. Some divers swear on ventilated diver ear plugs (i.e. PRO plugs). Do not clean or dry your ears mechanically, use just dry warm air. Visit your dentist and have your teeth carefully checked - ear infections are often related to dental problems.

Recurring Ear infections-UP DATE

:crutchI went to the Doctor yetereday, had the ears checked out again, still very infected, both external and an internal middle ear infection. Been put on a further course of 'strong' antibiotics, and have been banned:ban from the water:rcard for the next few weeks. I know this is pain in the a**, but its seems that this is the only, keeping the ear dry, and taking antibiotics to address the infection. I have to learn to be a better patient, stay fit in the gym and look forward to the water in the spring!
