Yo so how long can we expect this ride tide to stick around? Whats its program, does it run a life cycle and die out, does it just move in and out with the tide:confused:. Also, i heard you can get pretty sick from swimming in it, especially if it gets in your ears, nose or throat? (which it will)

No clue, I've seen it last for weeks. Today I did a 5 hr swim in it starting at Shaws Cove to Abb point and back a few times to stay in shape. The brown-red water was very hot close to shore, but the 3' vis sucked. I didn't have a gun and only saw bait fish, sea weed and sunburned tourists on the beach. I rinse my ears and throat with good vodka before bed time to kill any germs.

Cheers, Don

Are you saying the red tide was farther offshore and the water was OK in closer?

Could you tell how it was in the kelp bed at Cottons?

Just got back in from a long reconiscence mission on my yak to scope the conditions and it's definitely still present but very spotty in most all areas. Of the 12 miles I clocked today, there were numerous clear pockets but again, you were only looking at 10ft. MAX viz. On a positive note, it definitely looks to be on its way outta here unless another turn of events miraculously brings it back. Let us pray for clearing and don't forget to BOYCOTT RED TIDE....IT STINKS!!! :vangry

I just got a report from a guy at Cottons. Dirty dirty dirty!

I think it will clear in spots just in time for Drunk Boater Day this weekend.:friday:martial

Three Arch had the best local water last Fri, the bloom was in and out with the tide.

Cheers, Don

Unfortunately, I wasn't near Cottons at all Bill but it definitely had some potential for a lucky shot. Just got back from an early morning breakfast run and sorry to say that today appears as if any lingering patches have re-concentrated themselves with this new swell. not "red-out" conditions but not ideal either.
