hi.....i am a beginner in spearfishing and i just bought my first gun and reel

ive seen a lot of instruction videos and how to manuals for rigging guns and from what i understand, people who use reels usually dont use a bungee and people who have a bungee dont use reels, i ahve seen however some people who have both

my question is, if i am using a reel with a bungee (which is my preference), at what point do i right the bungee and swivel......i know it has to be at the beginning of the reel (dyneema) line, but in this case how many loops do i make the mono shooting line run for.....the usual 3??

appreciate the seasoned spearos' help

Hi abdelnour, only just seen your post...
I am no expert but can offer my few cents worth; i think it depends on what type or size of fish that you are hunting and therefore how you use the reel. if you need the reel to play a big fish then i dont think the bungee is relevant as you are likely hitting the fish before the spear reaches the end of its line-wraps.
If you usually shoot so that the spear can reach the end of the line-wraps then use a bungee.
If you are using a reel so that you can keep contact with a fish in deep water, possibly wrapped up in weed, then again i dont think you need a bungee.
it also depends on whether you attach the gun to your float.
so many variables, it depends how you will use it...

Either bungee or reel.
In Europe we usually use reels even for pretty big fish.

Bungee and floats only in BWH for really big fish ,e.g.tuna
You are a newbie so I think that a reel mate. You dont need bungee at your stage

If you use a reel, why use a bungee too? It just makes things messier.
