reel line setup

Once i attach the reel to my gun, does the shooting line go directly from the reel to the shaft/spear? That would just force line off the reel creating drag...

so how does the line connection go in relation to the reel, line release, and shaft?

Hi brother Kareem when u shot the line will go first of all the amount u wrap it on the gun after that if it is big fish or the fish is between the rocks and u r going up then the reel starts to release the rope and of course u need to loosen the reel so that the rope freely moves.

If u want we may meet tomorrow or after tomorrow bring ur gun and i can explain it to u

I undestand that, but my question is do I no longer need the bungee at the muzzle for the other end of line, or does it go directly from the shaft/spear to the line release then reel

float lines with more than 2 people in the water is too much of a hassle

ive got a busy few weeks but once i get back in water we should go spearfishing toegther sometime

Many people here in the US use a mono shooting line attached to the shaft, with a loop in the rear end attached to a snap on the reel line. But even if the reel line is attached directly to the shaft, there should be a couple of wraps of line between muzzle and line release so that the shot doesn't have to pull any line off of the reel.

So your blue mono line goes from she base of the shaft, out to the line clip, and then where does it go before it connects back to the reel line? What's keeping the tension on the mono on the line release?

I've been using Ray Odor Pole spear thus far, and its producing results.

I know a great spot that you could come with me spearfishing soemtime

i am cheap so i use a kayak to get to the spot, no boat haha
 
I am not getting your point brother LOLz but anyway when we meet i will show it to you and also i am a cheap as well not always i am having boat dives i do it from time to time with friends of mine... I used the pole spear before at the beginning i think it is more difficult to get fish with that more than a speargun think your great fisherman if u do so!!!

This is exactly the question, i want to know too.
Maybe your(and my) reel has a brake like a fishing reel. If you screw the screw in the middle of the reel, the reel doesnt give line easy and you have the tenison on the line release. I am not sure, i have to check that.

I will try that today. i have to look on my reel.

edit: yes, its like that. you have to screw, the grey screw in the middle of your reel until the tension istn getting less. Understand me..? sorry for my english.. I looks like that brake systems on spearfishing reels are like on fishing reels.

I understand the drag mechanism like on fishing reels applies...

I was more talking about whats keeping the tension on the mono on the release so it doesnt just slip off...there has to be something near the muzzle pulling back at it

il figure it out once i get my mono

Guyz what keeps the tension is that i am tightening my reel and when i shoot a big fish only i will have to loosen the reel to let the line go
