Relaxation and buoyancy

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.

I've read that relaxing will help you stay down a couple of times now.

i.e. relaxation = less buoyant.

But then my swimming teacher said, when my hips were sinking on the glide phase of breast stoke, that more relaxation would help me float.

i.e. relaxation = more buoyant.

Any truth in either of these claims?
 
I cant see how anything is goin to make you more or less buoyant unless your taking in more or less air or more weight
 
Swimming is a different story I think, relaxation affects body position etc and correct body position should bring hips up and make you more streamlined. But I think it's more a question of body position than overall buoyancy...

I suspect it's also a body position thing when being under...
