I have had my monofin for a about 5 years and it has served me well, I mostly use it in the pool and freediving North California with no socks but I recently moved to Alaska and it would be great for diving out here, but the water would be way to cold for no socks. My problem is I can not wear the fin with socks, it fits very tight on my feet and I have to use electric tape on my toes to prevent blisters. Is there any way to replace my foot pockets for the next size up?

Usually, you just buy a monofin with bigger foot pockets you can wear with socks. What kind of monofin is it?

The DOL-Fin X-20 and Lunocet have removable shoes that can be switched for a larger size. The other DOL-Fin models have adjustable straps. Some bi-fins have removable foot pockets. There aren't many monofins that can be re-sized aside from changing the lengths of the heal straps.

By the way, the X-20 is a great monofin for cold water freediving. Your feet will be tosty warm and comfortable. A gear review is here: http://www.deeperblue.com/the-end-of-the-hyperfin-the-dol-fin-x-20-review/

Hi,

It depends on the type of monofin. Theoretically possible with the older style monofin which uses a mass produced footpocket. I replaced the footpocket on a waterways mark two some years ago. It just takes patience and a razor blade to gradually cut the old footpocket off. Replacement footpockets can be bought from Bogdan at Waterways. You will need some appropriate contact adhesive to then fit the new footpocket. I'd say you cannot perform this procedure on a 'hyperfins' style mono.

I'm hoping to replace mine at some point in the future. I'll post pics when I do it but it will be towards the end of the summer.
