Ever had one of those meetings when everything went wrong? It was not a good night. The mike didn't work, the guy who was supposed to bring the projector for the biologist got sick and the only way Brandon could show his video was on his laptop and Jay Riffe was out diving. So we broke up early. However . . . next month Ivona Cetinic who is cute, Croation and very, very smart, will bring her own projector and give a talk on red tide, other micro-organisms in the deep and Domoic Acid, a truly ugly toxin found in the local fishy-wishies under certain circumstances. All are invited and welcome but be prepared for some true horror stories. (Shudder) I listened to her just chatting. If you think really big sharks are scary, come next month and learn about little, teeny-weeny bugs and diatoms!

The Neptunes meet the first Wednesday of the month at the Me'N'Ed's pizza place that is about three buildings north of Carson St. on Paramount Blvd. in Long Beach. There's lots of room in the place, the pizza is good, beers are varied and plentiful and the company is . . . well, loud, if nothing else. :D
