The Bat Signal?

"If you see signs of disease, pollution, poaching or other risks to the water environment and fisheries, don't delay. Call the Environment Agency's Emergency Hotline 0800 80 70 60." - from "Fishing Pembrokeshire" booklet.

From the same booklet:

"Your role in disease control

If you fish overseas please be aware of the risk of bringing back diseases and parasite that could be transferred to other fisheries. Of particular concern is the parasite Gyrodactylus salaris, which is present in many European rivers and has the potential to devastate Atlantic salmon stocks. It takes only one infected fish to start an epidemic. You can minimise this risk by drying and disinfecting waders and landing nets immediately upon your return from abroad. For more details see: www.defra.gov.uk"

There are 3 of these rather good booklets available, free:
Pembrokeshire,
Brecon Beacons,
Snowdonia

They includes maps showing locations to fish. Travel directions. Details of types of fishing available (sea/fly/coarse), brief details of key locations (e.g. various beaches & rock marks and typical catches), specific charter boats & angling stores details, clubs, regulations & permits, events. (Funny, no warning about the local anglers -- see N. Wales thread for details ;)).

No joke really! Great example in North America are the zebra mussels; a voracious lamprey and now the spread of the dragon fish--a real agressive toothyba!@#rd!
