Does anyone know of a publication or research journal article that documents the extreme heart rate reduction reported in world-record dives?

I've seen heart rates in the single digits mentioned in several books and films, but can't seem to find a good research literature citation for it.

Thanks

There are almost 50 scientific documents speaking about bradycardia in the Freediving Media Base. Better told, these are the documents having the term in the title or in keywords, in fact there may be many more than that in the database. You can also check out those speaking about heart rate or diving response. You can try going through them. However, I do not remember seeing single digit values at the HR (I may be wrong, of course):

bradycardia @ APNEA.cz

If you do not find it there, try Google - for example this searching term shows a lot of interesting documents, so I guess you will find the answer there:

It was reported (not published data) that Pipin had a heart rate of 8 bpm on a No-Limits dive. It was recorded by a Cardiologist in my country ([ame="http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jorge_Reynolds_Pombo"]Dr. Jorge Reynolds[/ame]) but I never had an eye on that EKG strip
