'Researchers: Dolphins use sponges as tools

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Re: Researchers: Dolphins use sponges as tools.

my suggestion would be to start a new thread/poll - this is getting really interesting.. nice work there Bret.

good to see genuine research and opinions instead of someone who just copies and pastes plain plaigarism.

Re: Researchers: Dolphins use sponges as tools.

Sara, feel free to edit the title as you see fit and add a poll if you'de like (should have atleast 3 options though, for those who are not decided and want to see the results).
My suggested title is the new one for the first post, as it's a bi-topical thread.

PS: quality debating there Huan & Bret.

If you wish to accuse me of Plagiarism you would do well to spell it correctly.

I don't have the permissions to do that.
I think a title change from 'Researchers: Dolphins use sponges as tools' to The whale hunting ring (formerly known as 'Researchers: Dolphins use sponges as tools') would be a start.

Re: Researchers: Dolphins use sponges as tools.

Bret
I understand where you are coming from on this debate, however I think you may be misreading me somewhat.
I personally do not hold the view that all species should be hunted, or indeed the subject of commercial activity.
I stated that in my original post that most anti-whaling was a result of cultural insensitivity towards other nations, the mere fact that Japan chooses to eat whale meat is not a reason for condemning them as a race.
However I do hold the view that the human race has a duty to sustainably utilise whatever foodstuffs it can, to this end I remarked that the sustainable use of Cetaceans is not bad practice.
Many whale populations can support whaling and should do so.
The adopting of extreme positions by "environmental" groups has weakened the IWC perhaps terminally.
I also believe that Whale-watching and Whaling need not be mutually exclusive occupations, look at Norway they have a fine whale-watching industry and a whaling industry and do not seem to have any problems with either.
You quote a figure of 1 billion profit amongst the whaling nations yet earlier information posted by Island Sands (Not Plagiarised:)) offers this opinion
"Whale meat is piling up in Japan, yet critics charge the Japanese government continues to buy votes to attempt to overturn the moratorium, exploit scientific loopholes, and pass out recipes for whale meat – all for an industry that brings in a measly $4 million a year.

Worldwide, the whale watching industry has made an estimated $1 billion yearly."

Which is correct?

And Sands, I am the sole voice in this thread apart from Roy_nexus_6 that seems to feel that debating a pro-sustainable whaling stance is acceptable.
If you praise Bret and accuse the other party of PLAGIARISM then it has to be me that you were accusing no?

exactly. not plagiarised, i just referenced a link, without copying and pasting other ideas as my own. i am going to change the title of this thread now as requested by a few people...

Re: The Whale Hunting Ring (formerly 'Researchers: Dolphins use sponges as tools

ok guys... off you go!!

I got work to do! Enjoy!

i would like u all who think that whaling is alright to go to the thread about the massacred dolphins i know its not tyhe same but they kill them in a similar manner i think people who eat whale meat are sick and i would happly press the big red button to blow up the whaliing boats
