Here are today’s competition results held in Auckland, New Zealand

Today saw 14 competitors from NZ, Great Britian, Australia, Malaysia and Norway competing.

It’s hard being a kiwi freediver when most of your National records are World records however Guy Brew and Kathryn McPhee managed to break the STA records.
Guy fought through some great looking contractions to surface at 8 mins 31 sec
Kathryn pulled off a relatively easy looking 7 mins 1 sec
Joining the ranks of National Record Holders is Ruth Griffin from Great Britian whom swam a DYN of 134m.

Other results included:
Ant Williams- 223m DYN
Kerian Hibbs – 178m DYN
Chris Harding (AUS) – 165m DYN
Marcus Thompson – 154m DNF – PB
Phil Clayton – 140m DYN
Carl Rowling – 105m DYN (10 point penalty)
Ant Judge (AUS) 177m DYN – slipping on the tiles DQ’d for airways
Gavin Gray – STA 3.13 DQ dipping airways
Chris Marshall – 131m DQ BO
Maria Hovden – 4.52 STA
Melor Bakri – 56m DYN (15 point penalty)

The No Bubbles Recreational Grade was run directly after the AIDA comp. This consists of “Tri-Apnea” one minute sta, 66m dyn, 33m dnf run consecutively. Measured on time taken to complete the entire event, the participant can take a breathe at any stage.

Results from No Bubbles Recreational Grade
:
Simon Birkenhead 2m47s penalty of 4 sec for beating “teach”
Jeroen Hattick 3m14s
Chris Marshall 3.18 (2 min stat)penalty of 10 seconds for wearing such a good looking suitJ
Marcus Thompson 3.51(2 min sta)
Alisdair Eddie 2.53
Pablo Rios 3.07penalty 5 sec for wearing socks in his dnf
Ruth Griffin 2.57
Maria 3.28
Carl Rowling 2.59
Fran Rose 2.50

Tomorrow is our depth event in Lake Pupuke where competitors are limited to 50m.
We will run another component of our reckie grade named TDT or “total dive time” where the depth is limited to 20m and statics are encouraged in the 0-5m zone. Designed for those who are unable to dive deep, they can earn points with a static time at a visible depth. Points are calculated as follows: TDT( total dive time) x max depth

Well done everyone today and thanks to all those that helped make the day a success

Stay tuned:friday

Thanks Fran, I was actually just looking around for results.

Congrats to Kathryn, Guy and Ruth, bloody huge statics there from the kiwis! And great to see another Britchick on the scene, the competition is hotting up there.

Also a big congrats to Chris Harding in his debut AIDA appearance and another Aussie to keep your eyes on in the future. Sorry to hear about Ant's DQ, what a rotten bit of luck! Nevermind, still an awesome dive.

Cheers,
Ben

Great, great results... huge statics... really great... congrats too all of them... and Ant's DNY dive was great also...

Wow some big results there....
8.31, Huge static Guy !
You just bumped Dave off the no1 spot in the world rankings for the year. That's the way mate, just because he has set a couple of world records don't let him intimidate you ;) :)
Congrats Kathryn breaking the 7min mark in comp, that's up there with Natalia. Ant I watched you do 223m before but this time glad you nailed it, huge DYN, very few have done that. Special congrats to Chris Harding, 165m is pretty darn good specially for a 1st comp (I think?). You now rank 2nd highest out of the Aussies in dynamic. :friday

Congrat's all, the level of competition in NZ is amazing at the moment with many WR's, countless top10 world rankings it's hard to keep track.

Cheers,
Wal

P.S. Any results from the depth comp ?

What a great set of results with new records and personal bests abounding, well done to those guys. Obviously a very successful competition and a VERY WELL DONE to the organisers. I can guess how much goes into setting up such a comp.

Judge

PS: Any pics?

Fran, come on, get CHILE mentioned as a competing nation next to Pablo's "socks on" DNF ;) we need all the good press we can get

Sorry Simon, Pablo was part of the rec grade and i must have missed him - whoops.

Lady Lake claimed yet another pair of lens from Kathryns fluid goggles, surprising the Aussies didn't make a sacrafice however i think her dark cold body was enough for them to show respect. Reports were that the thermoclines were numerous on the way to 50 and back.

Maria 21m PB – what a great going away present
Kathryn 50m BO – minus two lens

Sam 30m BO - unlucky
Guy 50m – looking smart in a 3mm camo Marea
Phil 33m – too easy Phil
Chris – 44m short – good effort in the cold
Kerian 50m after winning a protest
Ant J – 50m DQ airway. unlucky
Chris 25m(CNF) short. Not easy no finning in a 5mmJ
Carl – 25m first points on the board for the day
Ant W 50m DQ pull, airway, SP : strike 3 your out

Hey well done everyone. It was great seeing you all again and meeting the new fellas.
