Today saw 14 competitors from NZ, Great Britian, Australia, Malaysia and Norway competing.
It’s hard being a kiwi freediver when most of your National records are World records however Guy Brew and Kathryn McPhee managed to break the STA records.
Guy fought through some great looking contractions to surface at 8 mins 31 sec
Kathryn pulled off a relatively easy looking 7 mins 1 sec
Joining the ranks of National Record Holders is Ruth Griffin from Great Britian whom swam a DYN of 134m.

The No Bubbles Recreational Grade was run directly after the AIDA comp. This consists of “Tri-Apnea” one minute sta, 66m dyn, 33m dnf run consecutively. Measured on time taken to complete the entire event, the participant can take a breathe at any stage.

We will run another component of our reckie grade named TDT or “total dive time” where the depth is limited to 20m and statics are encouraged in the 0-5m zone. Designed for those who are unable to dive deep, they can earn points with a static time at a visible depth. Points are calculated as follows: TDT( total dive time) x max depth
