Many thanks to Trux for the mega-comparison of dive computers and Kars for comparing mask fields of view.

Has anyone published a review comparing mask volumes, perhaps on a standard mannequin or something so results are comparable between each brand?

Couldn't find anything on DeeperBlue using the search function, but maybe someone has published a study somewhere.

The volume alone is little important. Much more important is the compressibility - that determines how deep you can descend without equalizing the mask. So far I think I measured only the Sommap Flow and Technisub Micromask. Unfortunately I can't find the data for the Micromask (but the ratio was not very high). At the Flow it was 200ml / 36ml, which means compressibility ratio 5.6 - it means theoretically you could descend to some 46 m without equalizing the mask.

More details about the mask can be found here: http://forums.deeperblue.com/freedi...new-excelent-freediving-mask-sphera-like.html

And you did not search very well, since there is already an older thread created exactly for this purpose ;)

I posted the Flow data there too

Thanks, Trux, that thread has good info, and there were some links to other reviews with info too.

Out in the wider internet world I found an old review on a scuba site that included some masks that are popular with freedivers

Face Off: 30 Masks Reviewed | Scuba Diving Magazine

useful comments about field of view, but they used an unusual ranking score where a higher number between 1-10 corresponds to lower volume, and didn't give you the numbers they determined in ml.

I suppose what would also be interesting would be a relaxed/compressed volume ratio for the various masks, like you did for the Flow mask ( http://forums.deeperblue.com/freedi...mask-internal-volume-database.html#post732691 )

Also, the review page at Passion Sous Marine that Azapa found was great!

PSMCAFE, toute l'info sur la Chasse sous marine, l'Apnée, Snorkeling & Photo subaquatique - Comparatifs-2

Someone has also posted an English version of the table

(I also have to figure out the search engine, I guess. I get lots of results, but they don't seem to be the best links. I'll do a little experimentation :) )

How about the following I did not see these in any of the list:

Cressi sub superocchio
minima
Spora sub samurai

Haven't found anything on the Superoccio yet

A deeperblue member measured the Minima at 76 ml ( http://forums.deeperblue.com/freediving-equipment/41874-cressi-minima.html#post324890 ) which is a little bit lower than the micormask at 80 ml, although given the margin of error for these measurements, may not be significant.

Is the SporaSub Samurai still being made? With all the changes in the industry and the sale of SporaSub, I haven't seen the Samurai on sale anywhere. A lot of the spearos used to like that mask.
