Going in August (18-25th) to Rhodes, with my future better half, well by then she'll be officially the better half! While honeymooning (first part, September is the second bit) I will take along my mono and the C4s for some freediving to find peace of mind after realising what i have just done, saying YES!

If you happen to know Rhodes and can suggest places to see or even stay, above and under water, please let me know!

I'm ready to trade your secret places in Rhodes with some secret spots i know in Turkey (around Bodrum) that are amazing for freediving in particular, with the sea floor covered in broken amphoraes, temple pillars and even mozaics!

Freediving on your honeymoon????

You're a brave brave man :martial :martial :martial

well, i have to make a standpoint from the start! Already compromised going to Rhodes in August instead of Sharm end of October!

I thought only wreck divers had secret spots
Your spot sounds very cool - nice that collectors haven't carried everything off already.

Sorry can't help with place in or around Rhodes, but CONGRATULATIONS and safe travels & diving!

The secret about the..secret place i know close to Bodrum is that the ancient Greece settlment which once was there is now half underwater and hundred meters away from a Border Guard observation post. As no scuba diving is permited around and cannot be really done unless the Border Guards agree to take a long nap, i suspect those treasures will stay there for a longer while. I hope so at least!

now i gotta find some treasures in Rhodes, part from my soon-to-be-wife! (if you read this post BB, can I go to Sharm in October?)

So Sergiu did u go to Rhodes ?.
The reson I ask is becouse Im going to,this may.Did you do any freediving there ?

yes, we went there last summer but Rhodes was, in the end, just a short stop over on the way (and back) from a superb place, Symi Island. Excellent and tranquil place, you can rent a village house with seaview, for a reasonable price in May, great food and amazing visibility, at least in august. for some good freediving you will need a scooter (or a boat taxi) to reach some of the nice beaches. lots of fish and baby octopuses (but you need a trained eye to find them as they are hidden under rocks), a small boat wreck in 22m of water and did i mention the 30m visibility?

There are some amazing crystal clear waters and shear drop offs right in front of Lindos and St Pauls Bay. I hired a boat and went for a few dives there. The colours are amazing. The other good one I think is St Nicolas/Navarone Bay (where they filmed The Guns of Navarone). The water is amazing and the rooftop tavernas on Lindian captain's houses make for quite some scenery below the Acropolis. If you are there, I highly recommend eating at Ceasar's (crazy guys!)and hanging out at Socrates to the early hours.
P.S. Take a trip on a friends boat between Pefkos and Lindos. His name is Jeannot and owns this villa. Villa Jeannot

Regards
