Is rice milk a good substitute for milk?Does it have some effects on equilisation?

I've never tried it, but it would likely be better than cow's milk for equalisation as it's the lactose in milk that produces mucus which makes it difficult to equalise. Similarly, soy milk is a good alternative. The soy milk here in the UK tastes quite good, the stuff we had when I was in Australia tasted like wet cardboard.

Cheers,
Ben

is it really the lactose in the milk that causes the mucus ? i was sure it was the other parts. thats good news since allot of cheese and yogurts don't have lactose in them (the germs digest it). :friday

It is. I went off cow's milk a while back and have oats and rice milk for breakfast. it's yummy, sweet, low in cholesterol and quite filling :D since i stopped eating lactose products (with cows milk) its helped a lot. only soy, rice or almond milk :)

I, also, drink rice milk as the cow stuff gives me too much gas.rofl

I don't notice any troubles with mucus after drinking the stuff, like I would with cow milk. I also will drink soy milk, but like the taste of rice milk better.

Stumbled onto Rice / Soy milks when my daughter was found to be lactose intolerant (and we wanted to sleep!). At first, my wife got on my case for stealing milk from my kid :chatup , but now the three of us are all on the soy sauce (couldn't resist the pun :hmm).

Subjectively, I would say that it does help with equalization, but that could also be due to getting wet more often than in the past. :D

I use rice milk for cereal. I do eat dairy products without any problems, but I like rice milk better for cereal.

I like the rice milk better than soy milk, the latter makes my stomach feel dirty, anyone else experinece this?

I remember talking to someone about Soya Milk.

She was telling me that the body can't break down some parts in the Soya Milk and it just sits there in your kidneys.

She suggested drinking Rice Milk as its doesn't have this effect.

I have turned back to drinking milk because I didn't see a big effect and I felt a bit different being off dairy products for a while.

Have you tried oat milk tastes alot better and doesnt clog you up like milk can. Lower fat than the others too.

I've tried oat milk, it seems smoother than the soy. I'm not so sure about the soy benefits either. Sometimes I wonder if there's a bit of hype from the producers. Soy is much better taken raw, as sprouts.

oh yes oat milk is yummy. i find it bungs me up though  and also most soy milks do taste like cardboard as someone said further above.

I tried rice milk yesterday and it tastes very good.It says "0% cholesterol,0%lactose,0% glutein" on the package.......so it's enough for me to stop using cow milk......at least for a while.

Great! its cr@p in coffee though :yack

Yes Sara you must have the same Soy process as the aussies do - they either crush the soybean or soak the soybean and drain. Either way it actually tastes like cardboard (from childhood memories). The english stuff tastes great. Might have to try rice milk.

But for coffee it's got to be semi skimmed or full cream cow milk. I use skim or soy in my cereal (home made muesli, english/euro muesli's are rubbish) and semi skimmed in my coffee. I tried english soy in coffee but it was borderline. Cow is just better. Especially the t-bone :D

I think rice milk is healthier than soy milk. Tastes better too.

Mmmmmm Vitasoy Malted Soy drink, got addicted when I lived in Hong Kong. Haven't found it in UK though

Asian imported food stores got it. (via temple foods importers i think)
I remember it from Thailand... like puke in a bottle. :yack
