If anyone is interested, Apnea are now riffe dealers, no excuses for me not getting one of those euroguns now :) Not that expensive either! (until you see the cost of the rest of the kit rofl)

Mate, what's so special with it? The style* looks quite primitive compared to most of european woodies, so I guess it must have some special quality in accuracy, balance, strength, durability or others...

*I know it's stupid to argue about preferences in style: "beautiful is what people like", holy words. But the riffe euro does look a bit square.

'Bout time, too! Next, we'll have to start exporting California wines more energetically . . and cheese . . . and olive oil! Seriously put the French nose out of joint! :D

Guess what? I've had a californian Cabernet today with my sunday lunch (but the oil was the one of grandpa's yard). Not bad the american red. But what about the riffe euro? Any feedback?

No feedback on the euro but I did have a play with Alisons mid handled riffe and was very supprised how sweet it was even for an old Rob Allen stallwart like me. Price for price with other euro woodies it's a bargain and got to be worth trying before condeming it for being ugly. The magnetic track could prove to be usefull on a quick reload when those bass come in for the inevitable second look.

The general feeling among California spearos is that the Riffe Eurogun is hot! Even Bill McIntyre, who generally doesn't like Riffe's much, is quite taken with it. My local dive shop owner, Tom Murray, has stated that it is now his "go-to" gun for any trips to Santa Catalina Island for big yellowtail or white sea bass. The main feature people like is that, being shallow in cross section, it swings and maneuvors faster and more easily than the European woodies.

I have to partially agree and desagree with both of you guys, early this I was in the market for a new woodie, my list was short teak-sea Pal and the euro-riffe, I just could not find another euro woodie that was made with teak (I like teak better than other woods - I am not sure about that many euro-woodies that a made with teak). But the Pal was better choice for me for the same price, specially after I've heard problems on the riffe trigger.

I have a Riffe Euro 110cm and am quite happy with it. The gun is very accurate, well balanced, durable. I use mine off the boat and for shore diving. It takes a beating every time, but still fuctions flawlessly. I do not regret buying it and would have made no other choice.
Oh, and the trigger mechanism is very smooth. I have never had any problems with it, nor have I heard of anyone else. Riffe probably makes one of the best trigger mechanisms out there.

Don't take me wrong I think euro-riffe is a good gun, but early this year when I looking for a new woodie, I was about the get the new riffe when the teak-sea dealer gave me a nice discount. The guns plus 3 shafts, 3 sets of bands and teak maintance kit plus shipping from Greece to Alaska all for 500 usd. All of that plus the gun is just great. Perfect finish all in teak, so riffe was on my list but it was second ! But for now I am done with wooden guns.

Also, do not forget that Riffe has the mag-track. I think that makes it more accurate than most euro guns out there. The mag-track also makes loading faster and easier.

How exactly the magnetic track improves accuracy? Just curious.

YEESSSSSS a dream come true... i have wanted a Uk riffe dealer ever since i started spearing!!! Looks like i have a few christmas requests :D.

Simple, it keeps the shaft glued against the stock while firing. So there is less shaft whip or movement.

I don't think the magnetic track will do sod all for accuracy, as soon as the power stored in those bands goes through the spear shaft it will bend and no magnetic track on earth will stop it. I doubt if it is any more accurate than any other wood eurogun with a rail. The mag track is to hold the spear down when loading or freeshafting which to me is the big attraction of this gun.

My thoughts exactly.

I've been spearing with this exact same gun for the past 2 years and it has been flawless. A true work of art. My mate is in the market for one at the moment and it's pretty much a coin toss between the new riffe euro and my Pal.

I am glad someone else also share the same admiration for teak-sea guns. But I don't like their reels, I have a sporasub reel installed on my Pal and an RA reel on my Azimuth.

I don't need to use mine much anyway but have got it installed, does the job fine. Is it the locking system you didn't like?

I've bought my first teak-sea three years ago, my reel does not have the little spring that is has now, so the knob keep following out. Also I think the reel needs a line guide. I've asked for the spring when I bought the second teak-sea but they did not sent it.
