Hey guys have been spearing for a few years now and am looking to get a new bigger gun as I have just purchased a boat and am planning a trip to central america driving from cali to Panama and back next year.

I live in Jan Juc in melbourne.

I have only Ever dived with a bungy line and never used a reel. I am happy with using a bungy but would it be worth doubling up on both reel and float line or is that overkill with too much going on seeing as this gun will be for bigger fish?

I like the look of the 'Aussie reels' for both these guns.

Have done a heap of research on guns and have narrowed it down to these.

kes 1300mm Laminated Timber Speargun 2x 17.5mm bands 7mm threaded shaft.

Riffe Euro 1300 upgraded to 2 17.5mm bands and a 7.5mm threaded shaft so i am able to interchange sliptips ect

The question I had with these guns is what do you think would be better to travel to central america with? Keep in mind I already have a smaller 1m gun so this is going to be for bigger fish.

Is there much difference between the old and new riffe euro? Or buying one second hand is ok?

Will parts to be harder to get for the kes?

Is it hard to machine down aftermarket shafts so they fit the euro?

Are there any other guns that would better suit my needs?

Thanks Heaps.
