To all the American speargun lovers, those are some pictures of an ol' Hybrid gun created by the former Joe Riffe (brother to Jay Riffe) before his passing. The man in the picture is Toto niño de Rivera, a well known local diver and friend to jay and Joe. The gun is ballasted and it acommodates four 5/8 bands. It's an open track though, the trigger mech is Riffe and the hand grip is custom made out of fiberglass .. behold and enjoy!!!

Wow, that's a stout gun. I bet it could handle more than those four 5/8 bands with no recoil problems at all.

Thank's Bill, here is another one ...

And the guy holding this beauty has landed everything ranging from huge permit to a sailfish last month .. i think in this case is the indian, but also is an amazing arrow :) i have not had the opportunnity to shoot it, but he says that tracks better than the other Riffe guns that he owns ...

Seaman! How long ago do you think he built that gun?1980s ,1970s.Have you met Dale from gone to Baja tours ?,The reason I ask is your in Baja and I wanted to go down there last year but couldn't make it .Thanks for the pics .

The gun was made in the late 70`s or early 80`s. It`s pretty ol`but still kickin`. When you come down here send me a P.M and i would steer your way up to the best tours available, say, Andrea Tomba, Toto or EL Cortez club ...

I know Dale from the forums, he is such a gentleman and commited spearo, by the way, let me know if you need something from around this side of the Ocean...

how is everything down there???

I bet that's one that will have to be pried from his cold, dead fingers, as the saying goes. Very innnnnteresting! Wonder if Jay could be persuaded to revive the design . . .

That would be a great idea. The hybrid design has prove its worth with the time. The owner of the gun uses it as his primary gun, that`s his way to honour Joe and Jay i guess, if that gun would be mine (and i am so speargun greedy) i would have it in display, that would be a shame, so i guess is at its best in the hands of a better spearo.
